I’ve been debating which army to focus on and which one to put on the back burner and/or sell.
I have an imperial knight army/admech army I’ve started playing but I have mixed feelings about it because I miss out on the psychic phase and generally get a negative response for playing Knights. The nids/cult I have a large collection of and have played a reasonable amount just got a little burned out on them. I’m looking to start trying to play at a tournament level which is why I want to focus on just one army. Just wanted to get some opinions and feedback from total internet strangers

Focusing on one army and playing to tournament level are kind of opposite things right now hah.
I think mono Tyranids will be stronger than mono Knights though. Also while Knights are fun at what they do, Tyranids have way more ways to play. They can be built to focus on any phase of the game, or field a balanced force that is a threat in all of them. I think you'd have more fun with Nids in the long run!

For tournament imperial soup would be better of the two. For tournament if you can soup you need to do it. Both of your armies can soup so for tournaments do it...

I'd focus on 'nids. more model varity means you'll be able to do more things with em.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two |

Go 'nids for the moment. Lots of variety to be had.
I'd not sell off the knights/ad-mech though. Because eventually you'll want a break from playing just 'nids. Or maybe you'll find that they won't cut it tourney wise.
Or maybe you'll find one army just transports easier to events. That's why ages ago my traveling army was my Dark Angels. For the time they were a decent take-all-comers force & only took up 1 case. Yes, I would have preferred my IG - but I didn't want to haul multiple cases. To my buddies house? To the local shop? Sure. But for road trips & plane travel? No thanks.
And it pulling the knights out of storage is a lot cheaper than re-investing....

Go Knights. Cheaper, and your done much much quicker. 1 box of Renegades, 1 Castellan, 1 Sire Hectur, and the 4 Armigers, and some extra weapon purchases off ebay, and your good from 1K to 2500K fights, and you only have to paint 8 models.
Its a win win.

For mono codex Nids are a better investement. Since they support a lot of play stiles it is difficult to be completely cripped by a nerf. That said, as other have pointed out nids are a pain to transport, so if you plan to travel you should consider other options.
