I have a couple jars of black and a clear, these while smooth don’t act like water based paint

I read that they can be shot through an AB when thinned with water, are these solvent based because they smell like alcohol?

I spray the Tamiya acrylics using their laquer thinner and thinned a lot more than other acrylics. Just a habit I picked up years ago from somewhere that I can't remember. Respirator is more essential than ever as you seriously don't want to be breathing this stuff in.

They work perfectly fine with their acrylic thinner but you really do need to thin them down more either way.

Definitely check out youtube. Lots of modelling channels use Tamiya paints. So you can get an idea how to use them off there

No, you cannot thin them with water.

You can use either their branded acrylic thinner or lacquer thinner when airbrushing with them, however they work better with lacquer thinner (and even better with Mr Leveling Thinner). If you want to brush paint with them, Tamiya makes a retarder that supposedly makes them really easy to use with a brush, but I've never used it so I can't vouch for how well it works.

And some, I assume, are good people."
