|
does the units base attack stat of 2 include the extra 1 attack for chainswords? just played my friend and he had 10 death company hit me with 40 attacks. 2 base+1 chainsword+1 black rage x 10. seems overly excessive for 170pts!!!

No because you can choose to replace their chainswords with power weapons, etc. Weapon bonuses are not included in a model's profile unless specifically noted as such.

To reiterate and confirm what the others are saying, a models profile does not account for a models weapons unless some other special rule or weapon rule explicitly states so.
A model with an A of 2 and a chainsword will make two attacks with any weapon of their choosing (including the default profile CCW granted by the rulebook) and one extra attack with the chainsword.

Well yeah. My point is that if a similar unit with more attacks is merely seen as ok now, Death Company are definitely not OP!
My Reivers are crying though. 3 attacks each with no AP, S4, for 18ppm

You see experience is more relevant then beeing big and strong, i belive there is a lesson in here somewhere.

It would be questionable if they would not outright butcher nearly anything they get their hands, swords and chainaxes on. That said, this edition favours dakka over melee so long melee troops can't do a First turn charge.

I imagine Raptors aswell, but atleast those i can dedicate to WE which makes them surprisingly passable....
Honestly i should not be forced to take specific Traits in order to make a unit usefull but i mean it is an option.

If attacks were measure of brokeness howabout ork boyz? 113 attacks for 170 pts!
Of course # of attacks doesn't tell everything. Reminds me of claim that awesomeness should be considered by maximum under which grot would be by far most broken thing in the game as pretty much nothing can outshoot grots if you only consider maximum and point cost!

I mean that is pretty obvious why Ork boyz aren't particullary dreaded. (so long no wyrdboyz are around that is)

It's quality of attacks rather than quantity too. A bit of AP goes a long way.
