So me and a friend were debating on if and how the Big E could come back. and he posited that if you got all the Orks to believe that he is alive and well then the Big E would be.

But I said that it probably wouldn't work because as far as I've seen, there has to be a reasonable doubt that technology could work for it actually to be affected by the WAAGH energy.

In other words, I said that if a bunch of Orks believed an almost working gun could fire a bullet then it would be so. But if they also believed that a tooth brush could do the same, it wouldn't work, because there is too much of a gap between what the object is, and what they want it to be.

So is there a limit to the WAAGH field's capabilities in this regard? Or is it just a matter of the WAAGH fields size?

Or the whole ork believe and things work is bogus internet meme. It comes from imperial scientist theorizing while same era or newer fluff also has plenty of examples which without shadow of doubt his theories CANNOT be true as what is recorded fact would be flat out impossible.

I've got to side with theva32 here. Evidence for this is pretty slim in actual canon, though 1d4chan would make it seem like it's the core feature of Orks!

It's a fun idea, it just doesn't have much weight in the lore.

There is a story in one of the codexes of a legendary ork gun being opened up after the mek was killed and its revealed it was just a shiny box. the ork just believed it was an amazing gun so it worked.

The orks believe Yarrik is a match for Ghaz when in practice a warboss of that stature should be abel to handle any human with ease augmented or not. but the orks believe he is a good fighter and can stand toe to toe with Ghaz so he can.

Now woudl Gork and Mork smile on them bringing back the big E... probably not, so they'd direct the attention elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure that the fights between Thrakka and Yarrik were both very one-sided.

Yarrik killed a warboss and took his klaw, which is a great feat, but not entirely impossible. When he fought Thrakka the first time, he was almost killed, and the second time Thrakka took him prisoner for weeks and only released him because he thought that the invasion would be more fun if he could face him as a commander again.

Yarrik is a match for Thrakka in strategy, but not in combat.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Don't forget the Imperium hardly understands how most of its own technology actually works and most of their doctrine forbids you from finding out! So that they can't work out how ork weapons work isn't a shock

There's also a lot of theories that the red ones go faster not because of ork magic, but because when an ork makes it he makes the truck (or whatever) better and designed for speed (even if the ork doesn't realise it) and then the ork paints it red because it is faster and therefore must be red because red ones go fasta.

Could the orks bring back the Emperor - possibly. They have their own Chaos Gods in the form of Gork and Mork; and its clear that as ramshackle as their tech is, orks are capable of some very powerful and intricate tech - their gargants can fight Imperators - their spaceships the might of the Imperium Fleet. Indeed one might argue that ork tech advances only just as far as is needed to have a good fight!

So on that score to bring back the Emperor Ork Style the ORks would need their own Emperor Ork who wants to have a good fight and thus comes to challenge the Emperor - thus requiring him to be returned so the ork can have a good fight - cause that's what its all about when you're an ork!
