On page 67 of the BRB it has rules of upgrading specialists, now am I allowed to do this for friendly games as long as my killteam is battle-forged, or is upgrading specialists only for campaign play? It’s worded weirdly, or maybe I just don’t understand what’s written directly in front of me.

My mate told me that I am not allow to upgrade my specialists unless it had been survive last battle, once it dead, go back to level 1.

I find it fun to play with friendly match.

So if I’m just having a friendly game not within a campaign, you can’t upgrade specialists?

Rules wise there's no mechanism to upgrade a specialist outside a campaign system.

But, like, in a friendly game, why would that stop you? GW aren't really the best arbitrators of their own rules.

Honestly if your opponent is OK with it just count it as round *** of a campaign and upgrade accordingly.

If it is friendly just talk to your opponent before the match, if you want to upgrade them there is an added point cost in the book.

This has become a more or less unwritten rule for non-league KT matches at my LGS now that most folks have gotten comfortable with the ruleset. Matched play points values are there, go ahead and use em.
