Hi all,

I'm just coming over to 8th edition, and I've a question which I haven't found the answer to.

Back in 7th bikers had relentless, so could fire heavy weapons after moving. This made a big mek on a bike with a shokk attack gun a very useful unit.

In 8th, is there anything which allows bikers to do this? I see he has the "biker" keyword, does this have any such effect or is it merely to allow abilities which affect "bikers" to work?

If not then I fear my SAG bikermek model may not see as much of the table as he used to...

Cheers all,

Bikers do not have any special rules other than the ones on their datasheet. They do not ignore the penalty for moving and firing heavy weapons by default.

That being said, everyone has only a -1 when moving instead of hitting on 6s. Not useful for Orks I know but still.

Even vehicles do got get around the -1 to hit any more.
The LRBT has a special rule allowing the top turret to ignore the penalty, but all of its other heavy weapons are affected by the -1 to hit.
So, unless the unit has a very special rule allowing penalty-free shooting, assume they are hit with the "-1 to hit when moved" rule.

Ah! I was still stuck in the old mentality of blast weapons not being able to fire!

throwing out a few odd-shots will be better than nothing, I think he may still have his place then! And his speed will allow me to flank the enemy and get at their side armour (Kidding).

Thanks guys!

Bare in mind that you cannot advance and fire heavy weapons (or any weapon other than Assault ones), so that speed will be somewhat limited.

There will probably be a Clan ability in the new Ork Codex which let you ignore the penalty when moving (most likely Evil Suns ignoring the penalties when in a vehicle).
