I recently acquired a baneblade from a friend of mine, specifically the stormlord. Now, I don't collect guard, but I am working on an Ork army. So I figure I would try my hand at making a looted tank, specifically a battlewagon.

This is what I'm working with.

I made myself a little plan since I'm working with a fully built model.

I'll make the existing lascannon into a zzap gun. The weapon and the empty space on the left side will kannons. I don't want to put a giant rolling pin on the front, so instead I'm going to make some wicked ramming spikes. On top of this I want to put a giant pile treasure on the front hood, just to make things more ridiculous. Anywhere that's flat enough I'm going to try and build up some platforms.

And that's my plan so far.

Starting work on the front of the tank and replacing the main gun.

Also working on making the lascannon into a zzap gun. Added a little grot pilot.

Work progresses nicely.

Zzap cannon has been the most straight forward part. I'm just adding bits from a circuit board and maybe some wire later.

The kannon turret has been a bit more difficult. I wanted some articulation and that has added a few needlessly complicated layers. Added a command block on top, but it's a little big. An Ork looks quite roomy in there.

I like where this is going.
Inventive use of the circuit board parts on the zzap cannon!

More work done, just trying to pile on the scrap metal to get a more orkish feel. Adding barriers have also helped make the vehicle really feel like a moving fortress. The scaffolding on the back will become a second floor.

This is almost what the final build will look like, maybe a few more bits added on.

And here's twelve hours of work. If I have time I'll go back and apply wash to the rivets and maybe put some gloss on the lenses.

It is finished and just in time for the competition.

I thought I'd post some a nicer picture of the completed product.
