As the title says, has anyone actually tried them out in a regular game of 40k? They seem extremely fun, and I'm curious what people's experiences are with them.

I'm thinking of slotting them in with my Admech as a deepstriking, self contained task force to take an objective late game.

I'm also kind of inspired by them to create an army to represent a full rogue trader/pirate force using IG and Inquisition rules. Which — as a rambling side note — also brings up my one gripe about the starstriders' rules: why couldn't the Voidsmen be a non-character troop choice that you can take in squads of 5-10? And why can't Voidmaster Nitsch and his dog be a separate character in the elites slot? They could easily make a Voidsmen plastic kit with a few tweaks to the sculpts they already have.
