Tau Skyray or Pathfinder, both have markerlights. For the Skyray, can I target a unit with the markerlights and the seeker missiles, roll for the markerlights first and apply any bonuses to the seeker missiles? Or is it assumed that markerlight and seeker missiles are fired at the 'same time' and the seeker missiles will not benefit from Skyray markerlights? Same for the Pathfinders, if they have railguns in the unit, can or cannot benefit from the markerlights in that unit?

Good question. I think technically you can't do it. Though it seems pretty unreasonable that you can't because I'm sure the intent of this vehicle is that it can marker it's own target.

Realistically though - you are taking a very significant risk because if you don't hit with the markers - you can't shoot lol.

Markerlights absolutely affect their own unit. A unit of pathfinders all firing markerlights will roll one at a time. After one hit, any left will be rerolling ones. After 5 hits any left will be +1 to hit.

Edit: Fast rolling is an option, not a requirement.

Yes but all shooting from the same unit is simultaneous even if you roll for it separately.

Source?

Target selection is simultaneous. Shot resolution is one at a time. The rules make changes in most factors not impact the rules mid-process, but I thought they were very clear that it's one at a time.

Consider cover saves. You have 8 dudes rolling saves, and 3 of them are out of cover. You take the wounds on the 3 out of cover until they die, then the remaining 5 all have cover saves. If you had taken them on the 5 in cover first, no cover save.

That is the target being shot - any examples of a unit gaining a bonus in the middle of a shooting action?

The rules. Primer page 5. Number of attacks.

The Fast Rolling also makes it clear.

You *may* roll more than one attacker at once, if everything is the same. But (1) it's optional, and (2) not part of how the rules work.

Just remember, you're required to declare all targets/weapons up front. If you start with zero markerlights and miss you still have to waste your seekers at BS 6+, so depending on a unit's own markerlights to get the buffs it needs is a risky gamble.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
