So I got paid yesterday and really want to get something non-troop based to add to my Chaos army but I'm undecided as to what.

I've narrowed it down to either a Rhino, Forgefiend or Hellbrute but I'm not sure which would be the most beneficial. At the moment my army consists of a Terminator lord, 3 standard troop squads and a bike squad.

What do people suggest?

Rhino is the most practical, but maybe the least fun!

None of them are totally terrible, so I say just go with the one you like.

Depends on what you play. What is the rest of your list?

Forgefiend looks cool but not great. A armiger helvrine cost as much and does better.

Hellbrute or Rhino. I would go for the Hellbrute

Depends how you load out the helbrute.

A rhino with two combi-bolters is a fun little mobile pain in the ass.

Forgefiend *requires* CP and CAN be better than an Armiger - especially if you also have Thousand Sons.

I'd say Rhino or Hellbrute. If you get the Helbrute, magnetize the arms so you can have whatever combination of weapons that best serves you.

Thanks for the advise so far everyone. I've ruled out the forgefiend for now but still debating between the rhino and hellbrute

That was one of the main things I was considering with the Hellbrute over the others. The customisation options seem to be a lot higher. How easy is it to magnetise the arms?

Super easy. It was the very first thing I ever magnetized and it turned out perfect.

Awesome, I think that's swaying me more towards the hellbrute. What size magnets did you use?

From the sound of what your army is right now, a helbrute would be a good choice. however I recommend that you get a second HQ to fill out a battle forged army (battalion) as then you will be able to jump into matched play missions.

But rule of cool beats everything. Buy what looks cool, especially when the amount of stuff you have is so small. After you build up a sizeable collection begin to think about writing lists at 1500-2000 points as this is generally where most people play the game.

3/16" x 1/16" or 1/8" x 1/16" should be fine. I don't actually remember what I used it was so long ago.

For the most part Forgefiends are overcosted by 20-30 points in total. BS4 and rather unimpressive guns for the cost make it a choice for fluff or hobby reasons.
Hel Brutes, I feel, outside of FW units, are not that great. Once more this is a issue of cost to benefit.

In honesty, as a chaos player, the only demon engine models that even come close to making points back are melee defilers and MAYBE a supported Mauler Fiend.

Id go with the Rhino. It does its job and while in my opinion is overcosted ( loyalists as well ) but you will get the most mileage imho.

Edit : Doh! I just read you made your choice. Ignore the above . Hel Brute is cool. Magnetize it for sure.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I went to my local store today but they didn't have any hellbrutes in stock, so I got a rhino and a second HQ as suggested

If you're going to build a Rhino...build it so you can convert it to a Predator later. Leave the top hatch loose, and magnetize the doors, etc. You can get a TON of vehicles out of a single kit with some extra bits if you plan accordingly.

Sadly this. Says more about the Armiger than it does the Forgefiend (dreads suffer the same problem).

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

None of the above. Get a Predator. Rhinos are good but they are the second most troop-based thing you could get given that their primary role is a troop transport. Hellbrutes and Forgefiends are situational but a Predator will always have a place in your list which is a growing one.
