My copy of Speed Freeks is still waiting at the store for me, and I'll admit - despite having an Ork army, I'm more excited about the table top game! Has anyone tried it yet, and is it cool? The rules seem reminiscent a little of Dreadfleet (
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/10/15/15th-oct-speed-freeks-da-roolzgw-homepage-post-1/), which is not necessarily bad, but until I hear more that doesn't get me *more* excited... Also, this preview has a few extra details:
https://techraptor.net/content/speed-freaks-preview-unboxing.
What I was hoping for is more details on customization, balance and replayability. Those two links above give some nice details. I'm guessing this isn't high on
GW's list (is it ever, really?), when putting out a game to sell models, but:
The box comes with data to run all the vehicles in the box (warbikes [including option for Nob], Boosta-Blasta and Shokkjump Dragsta) and a few others (Deffkilla Wartrike, Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy, Doomdakka Snazzwagon, Megatrack Scrapjet). That's pretty good! Does anyone know if
GW plans to release rules for other vehicles (eg, trukk, battlewagon, copters, etc)? I've got a few of those, they're painted and ready to go; would be fun to get them in the game...
Any effort to balance the various bikes and buggies (eg, points system for picking forces, customizing forces, etc) for scenarios, or is it just "pick a buggy and a bike, go!"
Do they give you enough dice for various different scenarios, or custom scenarios (and can you buy extra dice)? Do you think (know?) if the dice have any use beyond Speed Freeks?
How's the campaign setting? Any effort to balance this, or is it also pretty random?
Any other thoughts?
Thanks!
