Well the title kind of says it all, what was the best model to come 'free' with a White Dwarf? For me it was probably the second edition Necron Warrior.

The choice being...

Space Marine (sergeant, bolter, flamer or missile launcher) (2nd edition 40k)
Khorne Berserker
Skinks or Bretonnian Archers (5th edition WFB)
Wizard (one of several Empire battle wizards, a Dark Elf sorceress and one or two others)
plastic Orlock or Goliath (Necromunda)
metal Necron
metal Ainur the Sword of Twilight (Mordheim)
Plastic Dark Eldar Warrior (3rd edition 40k)
plastic Terminator and Ork Nob (5th edition 40k)
Stormcast Eternal (AoS)
big Khornate chap for AoS (return of monthly WD)

Airnur is probably the best one I ever got, although I went and bought five copies of the one with the Terminator and Ork (then binned the magazines and gave away the orks) and got a terminator squad for 20% off .

I think we need to add 'Dark Eldar Warrior' to the list.

But Ainur has been my favourite.

Hard to choose between Ainur or the Necron, for me. Many great battles were fought by my original Necron army...

But Ainur is one of my favorite GW models.

Also, all the others were generic miniatures, and available elsewhere. Ainur was never, to my knowledge, released separately (unless you could order him from Mail Order).

Aenur, the Sword of Twilight, was available via Mail Order here in the states.

I regret never picking him up.

For me, it was the tactical Terminator.

I had two sets of the 5 man terminator squad in Blackreach, but that means I had two identical Sargent models, and I wanted a full ten man squad, up-armed with some cyclone launchers in my bits box. So, that one tactical Terminator let me retire the extra Sage, and have a beefy ten man squad that proceeded to underperform but always do something dramatic through all of 5th edition.

Aenur is clearly the best, as he was my very first miniature. There's a good chance I wouldn't be collecting today if he hadn't been on that magazine.

I never did play Mordeheim though.

Aenur by far without a shadow of a doubt. A gorgeous sculpt that far surpasses 90% of modern sculpts.

Aenur had to be my favourite, even though my local GW pinched it after I finished painting him.

I can't believe nobody has said the Slaughterpriest that came with the latest relaunch of White Dwarf! That was a very generous giveaway - he's bigger than a Primaris Marine, and a really cool, badass sculpt.

My favorite is the imperial strongpoint templates from WD 184
Even though it not a figure, I'd still consider it as a model

We're gonna need another Timmy!

The slaughterpriest. Essentially a Khorne Chaplain for AoS. It’s a $25 model that was free. It was a pretty awesome deal. Would have bought two, if I could!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I still have my hand up for the necron warrior, but I did really like the terminator/ork nob one from black reach release. I got 2 of those, those termies went a long, long way.

For me it was the easy build space marines (three parts). I got a hold of two copies of that book. Their boltsters are smaller then the ones on scouts and the multi part marines.

I''ve used them to make IG sergeants with a bolter for my troop choices.
You just need to cut the hands and peg off and they are ready to kit bash.

Vaguely remember getting a metal hobbit with a copy of white dwarf, think it was Frodo holding the ring of power. That was pretty good.
My favourite is probably the slaughterpriest though.

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

Pretty sure there was one where they gave away a plastic dwarf and night goblin at some point? They were fun.

Fully Painted Armies: 2200pts Orks 1000pts Space Marines 1200pts Tau 2500pts Blood Angels 3500pts Imperial Guard/Renegades and 1700pts Daemons 450pts Imperial Knights
