I bought a box of PSC M4A2 Shermans last week and having abandoned building them as 76mm Shermans I've now built them as 75mm Shermans. I've almost finished them and just need to add the stowage parts to them. Are the boxes and 'shelf' that come with the kit part of the production tank or something added in the field by crew? If anyone has any decent pictures of Soviet M4A2s with small hatches do please post them. Thanks.

That isn't terribly helpful.

Actually it was a little bit, did some scrolling and found someone with what seems to be a similar model.

This site has three pics of lend lease Shermans given to the Soviets. Even has an abandoned 75mm where you can see the rear(there's no shelf there) and two other pics where you can see the side and front.

Much better.

That first kit is a later large hatch M4A2 76. That's one of the other lend lease Shermans that the Soviets used. Note the distinctive glacis plate with no bulges for the crew hatches. The final link is also dedicated to that model of Sherman.

That second picture is interesting. I'm not sure what the log arrangement on the rear deck is, perhaps an addition for tank riders. definitely no shelf though. I wonder whether it was removed or was never installed.
