Been Around the Block

Hi all,

My firstborn was, em, *released* about same time as MKiii, so haven’t had a chance to play much since he came along!

However, having recently moved deeper into the country, I've joined a Watsapp group of similarly aged gamers, one of whom is desperate for a game of WM/H before his second emerges in a couple of weeks! I’m only too happy to oblige, so we’ve arranged a 75pt Steamroller type game for Wednesday night once the toddlers are asleep.

I’m bringing Circle:

Circle Army - 75 / 75 points

[Kaya 1] Kaya the Wildborne [+32]
- Ghetorix [19]
- Gnarlhorn Satyr [12]
- Pureblood Warpwolf [17]
- Scarsfell Griffon [8]
- Wild Argus [7]
- Druid Wilder [4]
Blackclad Wayfarer [4]
Blackclad Wayfarer [4]
Stoneward & Woldstalkers [10]
Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew [2]
Tharn Ravagers (max) [15]
- Tharn Ravager Chieftain [5]

Circle Army - 75 / 75 points

[Grayle 1] Grayle the Farstrider [+29]
- Feral Warpwolf [16]
- Ghetorix [19]
- Druid Wilder [4]
Tharn Ravager Shaman [4]
Tharn Ravager White Mane [5]
Wolf Lord Morraig [8]
Death Wolves [9]
Tharn Ravagers (max) [15]
- Tharn Ravager Chieftain [5]
Warpborn Skinwalkers (max) [15]
- Warpborn Skinwalker Alpha [4]

And himself if bringing Menoth:

Vessel of judgment
min choir
mechanics x 2
max Bastions x 2,l
Rhoven and co
knight exemplar senechal
In exemplar interdiction.
Free solos: hierophant, Exemplar Bastions seneschal

Feora 3
Hand of Judgment
Min choir x2
wracks x 2
Repenter x 3,
mechanics x 2.
Creators Might.
Free solos: sevy 0, vassil mechanic x 2.

These lists are final, and in my case at least I don’t have enough models to change the makeup significantly anyway, so please restrain yourselves from offering list advice

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Grr, Dakka are half my post!

I’m not looking for list advice - the lists are final, and anyway I don’t have a huge amount of additional models to choose from so there!

I would *love* some tactical advice though, not limited to the following:

>in the Menoth lists, who should I be eliminating first, who can I afford to ignore, and who should I just avoid if possible?
>do either of my lists favour particular SR scenarios? Or indeed vice versa!
>which list looks the most fun to play?

Thanks all! If there’s much interest in this three I’ll (eventually) post a bat rep, regardless of the result.

If he's bringing the Judicator it has to die ASAP these days. Combo'd with Sevy1 it poses a real threat to kill your entire army with blast damage alone.

I ended up taking KAYA because I know her reasonably well, and my opponent Feora because he wanted to try her out. It was a super casual game but we did use Steamroller 2018. We rolled “Recon” (I think?), and set up the board with roughly symmetrical terrain on each side including an LOS-blocking ruin just off-Centre that was left over from last week’s 40K game (which I won, incidentally). I took first Turn.

Honestly, nothing much happened until the first scoring turn, i.e. Menoth Turn Two. My opponent manages to layer his buffs such that his shooty ‘jacks are at something like +5/+7 (I may be misremembering) vs my heavy Warbeasts. Kills the Gnarlhorn, *nearly* kills the Pureblood, and lightly singes Ghetorix’s fur. Also his Judicator blows up my objective and Argus. By this point my opponent is up 2CP to my 1... but Feora, who advanced rather far to use her Feat, is within 7” of my Pureblood - albeit on the other side of the 40K ruin.

My turn three, I go for assassination. Both Warpwolves are on fire, but luckily fire damage doesn’t kill the Pureblood. Druid Wilder heals the Pureblood back to full effectiveness; Kaya advances, Feats and zaps Feora four times to remove last two Focus Point, reduce Def by 2 and plink about five damage; Pureblood activates, warps Ghostly to walk through the ruin and engages Feora. Between Spirit Fang debuf and Pack Hunters, I only need 4s to hit so save Fury for Damage. Pureblood kills Feora with 2nd initial attack, 2 Fury remaining.

Phew! I was dead in the water if that hadn’t worked, but I saw a chance and I took it. Looking forward to playing more games!

Got to love Ghostly

Also if you've got a Lord of the Feast, shoehorn him into almost all list the recent rules tweaks made him silly good

Assassination vs Feora3 is her weak spot, simply because Incite requires her to expose herself. Its very deadly, but it is a critical weakness. Its one reason why I don't personally live her much, she simply has to overexpose herself to use Incite.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.
