Subject: Valkyries, Grav chute Insertion and disembarking

So, I think I've come up with a potentially powerful tactic for AM, and I'm looking for confirmation that the rules work as I suspect that they do.
so, the plan is to have a unit embarked in a Valkyrie, which needs to get close - either to charge or flame or whatever. lets say 10 crusaders and a priest.
Valkyrie starts game, moves forward 19.9" in hover mode. crusaders disembark using grav chute insertion at the end of the move, 9" from the enemy. crusaders then move 6" towards enemy, and charge, needing only 3" on the charge roll.
rules in play here are:
Grav chute insertion:
Models may disembark from this vehicle at any point during its move, but if the Valkyrie moves 20" or more, you must roll a D6 for each model disembarking. On a 1, that model is slain. Models that disembark in this manner must be set up more than 9" from any enemy models.[/quote
Disembarking:
Disembark: Any unit that begins its Movement phase embarked
within a transport can disembark before the transport moves.
When a unit disembarks, set it up on the battlefield so that all of
its models are within 3" of the transport and not within 1" of any
enemy models – any disembarking model that cannot be set up in
this way is slain.
Units that disembark can then act normally (move, shoot, charge,
fight, etc.) during the remainder of their turn. Note though,
that even if you don’t move disembarking units further in your
Movement phase, they still count as having moved for any rules
purposes, such as shooting Heavy weapons (pg 180).
so, if I'm right, a model may grav-chute insert from a Valkyrie 9" from an enemy, then proceed to move, shoot & charge as normal. Am I right? I hope so, because this could be a seriously good shock-and-awe tactic.
Also, can fliers still deploy on the board if they're hovering, or do they have to deploy off the board and fly on from turn 2 onwards? I couldn't find these rules for fliers in the BRB, wondering if I missed them or they aren't there any more. Again, barring the roll-of-a-1-it-dies aspect of it, flying over the enemy, dropping an assault unit in to move to 3" away from the enemy, and then blasting their rear with the Valkyrie seems like a pretty effective tactic. With a transport of 12, that's 2 special weapons squads with flamers or meltaguns dropping in 3" from their target, which could be gamechanging! and the fact that they could be behind an assault army, could seriously affect the opponents movement.
Thoughts?

Yes, you have it correct. It's always been like this. The reason it's not used often is because Crusaders are sub-par at best, Valkyries can't contest objectives anymore and Astra Copywritum have artillery that do a better job from 120" away and for cheaper. Regarding your second question, Flyers are treated the exact same as any other model. They deploy on the board like everything else.

Crusaders are ace as a tarpit but on avg they can move 21" in a turn so dont really need transport in terms of speed and since you tske them as a tank you want the enemy firing at them so they dont need the transport for protection.

Drop: 10 Man Scion Squad with 4 Meltaguns, Tempestor Prime using Elimination Protocols order, and Grenadiers Stratagem to throw 6x Krak grenades. I suspect that may delete any standard vehicle/monster in short order.
Probably not the most efficient use of points, but might give your opponent a surprise at least!

I'm usually more concerned with making interesting lists than winning ones, so I'll definitely give this a try!
