Hi all,

I'm putting together an inquisitor and his retinue, and I've decided that because he hates witches so darn much he's willing to recruit xenos for their talents and skills in order to locate and destroy heretical psykers.

So far my inquisitor has a kroot and kroot hound, and a non-descript alien made from gretchin and ghoul parts. I was thinking of adding an Ork freeboota, but I couldnt think of a reason that it would tag along and not just brain the Inquisitor.

Has anyone got any ideas for aliens I could buy or kitbash for my retinue? Preferably keeping it GW.

Thanks in advance.

Eldar - fight witches with well witches.

If not happy with Xenos witches - maybe has (somehow) got a Dark Eldar to work with him - some do flee the dark city and take up lives as a Corsair so not impossible.

Jokero - Monkey tech savant fun

Vespid would be interesting

Tau Earth Caste Advisor (to comunicate with Vespid maybe)

Tau Water Caste

Tau Air Caste pilot

Tau Fire Caste - esp if bringing the latter three.

If your looking for inspiration for what a "proper" 40k alien could look like I suggest tracking down some old tau concept art. It has some pretty funky aliens that never materialised as models.

(i've seen more of these, but I couldn't find the rest of them at the moment)

the only xenos that I could see allying with a radical inquisitor would be eldar or Tau. Ork, no chance..unless you make it like that friendly super mutant in fallout.. but thats a push I think.

The Inquisitor in the short story Elucidium had an eldar genstealer hybrid.

Sslyth seem like mercenary types.

While not xenos, sanctioned abhumans might fit.

Slyth are mercenaries but almost entirely a dark eldar client race. Kroot are always good.

Krashrak the Stalker (from 54mm inquisitor) was a Viskeon

Gaunt's Ghosts features Loxatl mercenaries - normally in the pay of renegades, but they're not actually chaos-worshippers so I guess there's no reason an inquisitor couldn't hire one.

Why not a Barghesi? They are suppose to be so scary and powerful the Imperium strategy is to contain them and prevent at all cost Tyranids from ever getting their claws on one as it would be a disaster for the Imperium. I suppose a radical Inquisitor can pull one out of their quarantine zone.

You can also add Stryxis, a race of hairless multi-eye skaven-like xenos who deals in slaves and genetic experiment, and their flesh construct.

I know Sslyth and Loxatl have already been mentioned, but I would like to mention them again as they are described as xenos with a very strong mercenary culture.

If that can interests you, I created about three minor xenos races. All three of them make for good mercenaries.

I could see a band of Orks being able to be bribed short term for one specific mission. Long term a singular ork would be a disaster. Assuming that one singular one would be seeking anything but a proppa end, and could be convinced to serve, the whole constantly giving off spores that will eventually would cause a ton of problems. A single ork is essentially a walking weapon of mass destruction, just give it some time.

Possibly a necron lord, under the orders of the silent king, might aid an inquisitor in some cases, particularly against anything 'nid related.

Consider:
1. The silent king has a huge dread of the 'nids. Bigger than any he's likely to have against the imperium.

2. A 'nid fleet destroyed by the self replacing humans is that many less irreplaceable necrons lost fighting them.

3. The silent king has said he actually pities the victims of the destroyers. He might even pity humans devoured by the ''nids.

4. The silent king still values things like art, culture, etc. He's likely to feel far more regard for the imperium than the 'nids.

5. Weapon useful agaist the 'nids are largely unlikely to be very effective on necrons.

The Hrud. I'd like to see gw release a Hrud model as part of a kill team of Blackstone fortress expansion. Saw a cool conversion in WD once upon a time base on a skaven, posibly a poison wind globadier?

A squat! I think there a forge world necromunda squat?

Just one of the alien designs Roberto Cirillo came up with for GW but was never used. I doubt it even has a name.

An Ork definitely could work with an Inquisitor. They are rational beings with a developed sense of self interest after all, not unthinking monsters.

An example from the lore would be the Massacre at Big Toof River, where Blood Axe Scouts were hired to support Imperial operations.

Two things too consider;
Orks only respect strength, and too a degree, wealth.
Orks have a 'pack-like' mentality, becoming much braver and more aggressive in larger numbers.

So if you were to justify a freeboota working with your inquisitor I would go with something along the following lines;
The Inquisitor pulled the half dead Ork out of a floating space wreck to serve as a more robust sparring partner for him and his acolytes. After weeks of brutal matches the Inquistor realised that, with suitable motivation, the Orks skills could be put to work serving humanity. Although, he is careful to keep it locked safely away when operating near Ork controlled space.

Any Inquisitor trying to use an ork in this manner for more than a minute should be shot. Every single ork is walking bio weapon constantly shedding off spores to make more of there kind. Any place it goes, more orks will pop up and cause problems.
