Greetings everyone!
I started painting my first Warhammer army in spring 2018. Sadly I had very little time within the last months so I could not get any painting in in since July or so. I want to start again and thought it would be good motivation to share my WIP Necron army with you guys and hopefully get some hints and suggestions.

I picked a dark color theme which i realy like. Since I started as a total noob in both miniature painting and Warhammer itself I just basicly watched Duncans painting Videos and looked on Pinterest for some inspiration. Since then I discovered the Blanchitsu painting and modeling style which I find fascinating. My goal is to learn how to paint more in the John Blanch style and maybe start converting models here and there.
I have the Necron starter box and the Necron part of the Forgebane box at my disposal so these are the models I will finish first. Since I am trying out diferent painting shemes most of my guys look different why I will someday most likely strip them and paint them again uniformly.

Well then without further ado - these are my guys so far.

Warriors
Spoiler:

Naturaly the Warriors were my first models to paint. They looked like absolute garbage however, so I stripped them and painted them a second time. I couldn't decide how exactly I wanted the sheme to look so they all have different shoulder pads and the weapons look different. I still mostly like how they turned out but I don't like the posing. I might buy a cheap heat gun to change the legs in the future.

Immortals
Spoiler:

I have painted an entire squad but they all look different. This guy is basicly the posterboy of the squad. The one thing I do not like however is the color pattern on the weapon. It looks boring to me and I would like to incorperate another color rather than just painting the entire thing golden. If anyone has a suggestion I would be happy to hear it.

Deathmarks
Spoiler:

I bought me some blue stuff and made two part molds to copy the legs, chests and the small back spikes for my deathmark squad. While I do enjoy the result, the amount of work this took was realy not worth saving the 20 bucks for another squad. I like how they turned out and they were my first try in transitioning edge highlights. While it can't realy be seen in the end result, I did 3 passes with different gold shades which took forever.

Wraiths
Spoiler:

I can't say much about these guys other than that they are a fun model to build and paint. I like them quite a lot but I would like to make them look grittyer and more "blanchitsu" when I paint more of them in the future.

Overlord
Spoiler:

This overlord is the cleanest looking Model I painted. I wanted to make him stand out so I gave him very bright highlights. I'm quite happy with the result and wouldn't know what to change about him other than making him a bit less shiny and more dusty. The basing is just some Miliput I scratchd with a toothpick to make it look like dry, crackled earth.

Anhiliation Barge / CCB
Spoiler:

This model took me literaly weeks to finish. It realy teached me the importance of sub-assemblys (which I did not do). It is fully magnetized and I posed and based the Lord in such a way that he can be placed on it as a CCB. I don't like how the black turned out but I realy did not have any Idea how to make such a large area as the wings less boring. I will find out in the future however and maybe some of you guys have a trick up your sleeve for that.

Well thats it for now, these are all the models I managed to paint so far. I will try to paint a lot more now since I realy enjoy the hobby. I would love to start converting and scratch building some models but for now I will stick to what I have and finish painting the models from my starter box and Forgebane so I can hopefully start playing the game someday. I will update here as soon as I have painted some more.
If anyone has suggestions, critique or tipps I would be glad to hear it. Also if you have any Ideas how to incorporate more "blanchitsu" in my army it would be much appreciated.

Wow, mate, these are very cool!

I hope starting the blog gives you the motivation you need, because I want to see more. Your patience must be unreal - the edge highlighting and detail work is neat and tidy, and from a colour point of view I love the bone-coloured skulls on the metallic chassis. The wraiths and barge are particularly striking.

I don't know anything about Blanchitsu, but the muted colour palette seems to fit in with his grimdark ink-and-colour-wash art style.

You're off to a great start! The color scheme is good and paint seems to be where it should. Can't really help with blanchitsu, but here's some other tips:
-The sculpted base of your lord has quite noticeable fingerprints. You can avoid this by smoothing the milliput with wet fingers (water or some oil), or by using some smooth tool, before creating the pattern.
-I don't know if you were going for an OSL effect on some of the warrior eyes, but the green around the eyes seems a bit sloppy. I'd go with clean eyes without glow personally.
-For the black in the barge, I'd paint it abaddon black and then try to do a couple of clean, quite bright highlights (mechanicus standard grey or even dawnstone). Try not to use washes on black, they just seem to dull it down and make it look dirty.

Thank you guys for your kind words and the help. I was trying to make the eyes glowing by "washing" them with waywatcher green. I do agree they look sloppy and I did not like how they turned out. On the one scarab on the warrior base I tried out painting the eye white and applying green ink with a white Highlight. I like that Version much better and I will try something similar on the next infantry.

One question to the Black - how do you handle large, flat areas? Where Do you place Highlights on a flat surface?

I will try assembling my lichguard next and "convert" them so they are Holding the lance+shield. Magnetizing the tiny hands with 1 mm magnets seems almost impossible to me.

Yep, the scarab looks better. Keep at it, OSL is tough!

You don't place highlights on flat surfaces (unless doing NMM, and that's a whole different thing), just on the edges. In the case of the barges, there are quite many: if you look at the 'eavy metal command barge, you can see that it's basically just black with bright green edge highlights. You could maybe do some very subtle drybrushing to add texture, or paint small scratches to make it more interesting, but I would start with the edge highlights and see how it looks.

I finaly got around to paint some units again. At first I wanted to try making cloaks for my Lychguards which failed horibly. I guess I will have to buy some sculpting tools any clay shapers first to get a decent result. Since I could not get the cloaks looking decent I instead decided to assemble some Greenstuff Scarab Swarms which turned out quite decent. I tried making them a bit more gritty with broader brush strokes and some agressive stipples. I also finished them with a very light drybrush of Zhandri Dust to make the metalls a bit more muted and make them look a bit dirty.
