What I mean is the below:

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Tyranid-Termagant-Brood-12-Models

£18 for 12 models

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Termagants-2017

£6 for 5 models.

So by buying three of the second linked product, I can get 15 models for the same £18 as I would have spent getting 12.

Ok thanks.

I guess if you are not bothered about the weapon choice, it would be just better to get the non-multipart cheaper ones?

I mean termagants and just screen anyway, the weapon is kinda irrelevant.

Due to being molded in only two parts, the cheap termagants are somewhat lower quality. For instance some of the parts are fused together, like how the upper arm on this one has that big chunk of undetailed plastic between it and the body.

They're only termagants though. You only see the horde. No one looks close enough at individual models to notice stuff like this.
If all you want is lots of fleshborer gaunts, the cheap ones are the way to go.

As said, these sets are designed to provide some basic easy-to-assemble basic troops for the faction. Same with the Cadian Guardsmen set. In terms of basic numbers, they're better value. But you have absolutely zero options and there are no poseability options either. You've also got the issue shown in the photo above.

The thing is, for a Tyranid player you'll probably have a swarm of these in your army the way I have hordes of Guardsmen, so spreading a few of these cheap ones throughout is a sensible cost-effective choice. But it certainly doesn't cancel out the main box ever being a good purchase.

I actually prefer the snapfit kit just due to not having horrible moldlines like the main kit.

You miss out on all the options though, plus rippers. Termagant boxes are the best way to get enough models for a full ripper squad.
