I've been wanting to make a space wolf army for years but since the primaris marines came out I just can't bring myself to buy the older kits. I thought I'd just use the primaris units with the SW codex but feel like I'm missing out on half of my army.

So, I was thinking of taking a load of the primaris bodies but use the weapons and stuff from the normal kits. Of course this method leaves me with a lot of wasted kit and money.
But has anyone done this and have images?

On the other hand I've also had a large amount of orks waiting for the new codex before I finished building them.

I guess my question is should I just shelf my SW primaris until they gain more in the future and concentrate on my orks.. Or convert up my own units?

Any thoughts and suggestions would be great.

You could always do you convert Primaris to wolves, then sell off the bodies you don't use on ebay.

Primaris offer no benefit over older unit types, they are poor in terms of options.

The current Primaris catalogue generally doesn't mesh well with SW, although I've found some uses for Inceptors, Agressors and the Repulsor. SW are a rather aggressive midfield and CC army and those 3 units can also fit that bill (you have to toss the Aggressors in a Repulsor to get them anywhere useful though. They can also make decent bodyguards for a gunline, but if you're playing pure gunline I have to wonder why you'd pick SW for that). Maybe a Plasma Redemptor if you have the CP to use the stratagem that lets it ignore to hit modifiers for a turn a couple of times on it. As for older kits: Yes, I'm assuming they'll be phased out eventually, but it'll be a long time before that happens. As in 5-10 years. So I wouldn't hesitate to get non-Primaris SW kits. Finally, it's almost inevitable that the 2nd wave of Primaris units if going to arive in 2019, hopefully there'll be more Primaris that fit the SW playstyle among those.

Yeah i might just shelf the primaris SW until the next wave is done and just go for my orks.
Although converting intercessor bodies into grey hunters etc. Does seem like a fun project
