Hello,

Returning player here - stopped playing in 5th ed- I see lot of changes to the game.
but before I reassemble my newly stripped models I would like to get some help&advice.

In the FAQ i read that " the number of times a player’s army
can include a particular datasheet. - 1,001-2,000 Up to 3 per army"
I know this is meant for tournaments but many people prefer using tournament style gameplay on friendly matches so better to build an army that will be accepted in every situation.

Does this mean that I can not make a force made up by more than three units of burna boyz - for example per army or per detachement? Or a Loganwing with 6 units or a murderwing with 15 units?
Thank You

Hello,

This is per Army so the entire battleforce.

They specifically use the term datasheet name so yes max of anything that shares the same datasheet name.

This means if you have a soup of Dark Angels and Hellblasters. You cannot have 3 hellblaster from DA then 3 from BA.

This was because people were souping Nids and had stupid amount of Flyrants.

They do not use the term "datasheet name" (unless something recently changed), it just says datasheet. Dark Angel Hellblasters don't have the same datasheet as Blood Angel Hellblasters.

They say same datasheet, not same datasheet name. If two datasheets have the same name but are from different codexes and have different keywords, then they're different datasheets.

First of all, thanks for clearing that up.

I suppose 3*5 units of AM will not do then, that knocked one of my possible lists out unless i go BA and mix different jp units .
but then comes the next question, do i have to paint all models as BA and keep them loyalist to be able to use the codex?
"Q: Can successor Chapters use the Warlord Traits of their
founding Chapter?
A: No"
So no red space wolves, orange raven guard, purple goffs etc?

Also, do detachments cost points? or only orks have to pay (do they have to pay) for them?

Successor Chapters can't use the Traits, but you can just use the normal keyword (SPACE WOLVES, GOFFS, etc) and paint them however you want.

Detachments don't cost points. Where are you getting that orks have to pay for detachments?

You can paint your models any color you like and use whatever rules you want, you can paint them green and blue and use BA rules. Unless you play a tournament where the TO says that certain factions must have certain colors. Detachments dont cost points, for no one.

that's is good news about the paint scheme/codex etc, i will unlikely go and/or last long on tournaments. Just as a wrote above, better to bring a tournament complient army along than just go home rejected

one detachements entry made me confused but i'm ok now, my misunderstanding lol

Just remember to check with the tournament beforehand what house rules they may be using, they may have extra restrictions beyond normal GW rules.
