So, it would seem that chapter specific upgrades (for IF at the least) are coming. Any chance they'll do this with other chapters in the future? I also note the Power-fist upgrade for a Sargent in there too.

I really hope they do more of these, I'd love to see Blood Ravens, Salamanders and White Scars.

We already have the big 4 covered (UM, BA, DA, SW) and that's all anybody expected, so the upgrade sprue for IF is nice. I can't see Blood Ravens getting a sprue, if anyone not a first founding gets one, it'll be BT.

It's a tough one because Imperial Fists as a legion (so really Imperial Fists, Crimson Fists and Black Templars) have a long history of taking the spot right between the Big 4 that get all the love and everyone else who gets little to nothing.

They get stuff because they hold that special place, not because they just so happen to be the first outside the Big 4 that get what they deserve.I don't expect that their appearance isn't really indicative of any other chapters getting upgrade sprues, cool as that would be. Not that I can rule it out either, but I just wouldn't take the Imperial Fists sprue as evidence.

I hate transfers. Feel totally stupid sometimes when I finish one snd see in my fingers the one I did before. I am looking around internet for getting something nice for my ultras.

Have at least 25 SM without transfers.

It's really cool that IF get some love. It helps Primaris feel a little less bland in terms of gear choice.

But this is what I mean.

Traditionally GW has done X doesn't mean anything because the philosophy can change in an instant.

I could see single sprues like this one popping up for all the chapters that are major Chapters, and then going further to do the lesser liked but still well known chapters, especially if the bottom line on the parts is dirt cheap.

i wonder if they would ever do an upgrade kit for reveiers though with their weird cut off shoulder pad bit.

that's one of their major shtick anyway.

lets not make a bunch of snowflake weapons. otherwise where is my imperial fist fist with fist for fingers that does 3x str instead of 2x str

Well Yeah why would you ever take a normal weapon or a chainsword over any power weapon on a model that gets extra attacks natively.

Also by sprue of weapons i dont mean just melee weapons but all weapons. a cool looking flamer with guilded drakes on the sides, a bunch of bolters and special bolters with that hammered patterns and wings or whatever. filigreed power sword and even heavy weapons. mind you i dont think this is going to happen outside of maybe some unique unit box in the far future when they one day branch out of smurfs double angels and wolves because they ran out of stuff to make for them.

Would be nice if every Codex got a dedicated Relic sprue. Marines for example could have a special Boltgun, Power Sword and Chainsword for the Primarch's Wrath, Burning Blade and Teeth of Terra respectively. You could then add a unique breastplate and pauldrons for the Armour Indominatus, a cool Storm Shield and a little extra to put on your Ancient for the SotEA.

That's actually a really good idea - similar to the endless spells run they are doing in AOS.

Imperial Fists, or Crimson Fists at least, are one of the most prominent Chapters in all of Warhammer 40,000. They were on the cover of the rulebook at one point. They also had a TON of upgrades in metal/resin. It makes perfect sense that they are the first non-Core Four Chapter to get an upgrade. If anyone gets an upgrade sprue next, I would place my money on Iron Hands or Black Templars. Iron Hands are my first choice for a small upgrade sprue like this. Iron Hands had their own add-on book like Imperial Fists did in 6e, so I would expect them next. Black Templars are likely getting a much more elaborate upgrade sprue (probably a full frame sprue rather than a clam pack Sprue).

Also, keep in mind that Imperial Fists and Crimson Fists are getting their own specialist formations in Vigilus Defiant (BT are as well). No other Second Founding Chapters are getting that. Also, Imperial Fists and Crimson Fists have the literal same iconography, so it makes sense that they got one, since two very popular Chapters are covered by the same upgrade sprue. Maximizes sales.

No. There is no codex Primaris. There is a new Datasheet for Intercessors in Chapter Approved. It will be where the new options will be. Likely everyone, C:SM, BA, DA, SW, and DW will be getting the same options now.

I really love the FW Salamanders upgrades and have used them on both Adeptus Astartes. Plastic would sure make them easier to get.


You know, Salamanders are MASTER ARTISANS, so it would make sense that they're flamers were longer range than others and melta more destructive.

Sure it could change. Just like after they got Marines out of the way for that edition, they could have given us plastic Sisters in 3rd ed, 4th ed, 5th ed, 6th ed and 7th ed. Because their philosophy regarding plastic Sisters could have changed in an instant. Only, it didn't until it did. And we can pin that one pretty clearly on a significant overall change in GW's attitude towards market research that had nothing to do with Sisters specifically.

That's something to keep in mind. We're not getting plastic Sisters because at long last GW realized on their own that they are overdue, but because they discovered there is demand for them by accident.

As much as GW likes to propagate that their models are created completely at the whim of their model designers with no input from anyone else, there is a measure of constancy and rationale to their releases. I really wouldn't expect to see chapter upgarde sprues simply because "it could happen", because "doing X in the past doesn't mean anything for the future", or because a designer got up one morning and felt like making a Raven Guard sprue. If they think the narrative is ready to progess to Vulkan Hestan bringing back Vulkan, yeah, we'll get a tie-in Salmanders sprue. If market research found there's a killing to be made selling White Scars sprues, we'll see White Scars sprues. If chapter sprues generally sell well, they'll keep making new ones until it no longer pays off.

So yeah, nothing really speaks against upgrade sprues. Me, I'd love to see all the chapters and legions covered (give some love to Chaos, too). Especially since Marines don't go away so they can sell these sprues for many years to come. And just like plastic Sisters, I think GW's failure to give us these sprues in the past is plain stupid. It's just that maybe it's not the wisest choice to hope for getting any. What with hope being the first step on a certain road...

Not a codex right now, no - but they will not pass up the opportunity to release one in the future once the range is expanded.

They just need to hire the Ultramarines to find the last few relics ASAP.

Otherwise looks like a good upgrade kit. Though its unbelievably small amount of bits compared to the black templar and dark angel upgrade kits.
