Pretty simple question when it comes to the Chimera Transports. With them getting a significant point decrease, I plan to field a Mechanized list and with that being the case, I am debating on which Turret weapon would be the most effective. Way I see it, I am currently leaning towards the Hvy. Bolter for the -1 AP value, but I am willing to hear what people personally think. Feed free to share your opinion, as well as which Hull-Mounted weapon you prefer.

Just go cheapest option and take about 10 of them. If you got something else sturdy in your list you’ll never get wiped and you’ll score points from missions. You don’t kill anything either but you got a bucket load of ”fearless” t7 wounds at a bargain price.

Absolutely zero to do with the topic at hand mate. This poll is for which Chimera Turret weapon to field and the reasons why. As well as which Hull-Mounted weapon.

It's got plenty to do with the topic at hand. He's saying the HB is more cost-efficient.

HB. Identical in all respects vs everything but no-armor T5, so unless you face a lot of grots, go HB.
They are so similar tht it's not worth ripping them off IMO.

Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! "...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

But although the heavy bolter is the most efficient, it is not the cheapest option. Incidentally, the heavy bolter turret version is the more efficient all round version, only the FW gryphonne turrets are better, Twin heavy bolter in general and the Autocannon vs T7 multi wound models.

Did the forgeworld chimera with autocannon or TLHB turrets get cheaper too?

No it did not. It is potentially an oversight, but even so, the Gryphonne pattern with the twin heavy bolter turret is still the most efficient choice, even if the chassis costs 15 points more than the codex equivalent.

The stock Chimera (ML/HB) is probably the best, simply because there's no real way to make the Chimera do real work, so simply paying the least amount of points possible is wise.
You can get a little cheeky with double HF chimeras, but even at the new price (88 IIRC) it's going to struggle to do meaningful work, especially compared to a banewolf with heavy flamer for only six points more.
The cheapest transport remains the Taurox, and it is also shootier than any chimera loadout. It does loss a point of Toughness, but if you want to sit on an objective and plink, the Taurox is a strong choice.
The actual chimera has a different mission profile. I say keep it cheap, and use it to move a squad, eat overwatches, and boop hard hitting enemy units to prevent them from shooting.
