Sorry if this doesn't belong - I just have a question about some older tyranid models.

In a recent purchase, I got a what was listed as a Doom of Malan'tai and Parasite of Mortex models. I am vaguely familiar with them from my early days of 5th ed.

I am trying to determine pricing for them, but can't find anything on ebay or on GW's main site.

These models don't appear to be kitbashes, so I'm curious if they're somewhat valuable due to scarcity/for collectors?

Did they ever make models for these 2 units? If so, does anyone how any idea how much they'd be worth?

There were never any official models for them, closest you'll get is the Neurothrope which is GW's replacement for the DoM.

Ok, huh. Well, the Doom model is definitely not the standard - it's metal, and like 2.5x the size of a standard zoanthrope. Wonder where he got it.

Regardless of what it is we can only give the standard answer for eBay- They are worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

Truer words have never been spoken. I guess I'm more curious than anything as to where they came from, the doom model especially IS a GW model and isn't a zoanthrope, just looks like a giant one.

Do you have a quick photo of it? I'm genuinely curious as to what it might be.

Come back tomorrow, I'll post a picture then, but it's just a metal zoanthrope that's like 6" tall. It's not a malanthrope, it's just a huge frigging zoanthrope. I assumed it must be the doom as it looks like a GW model.

So just having a look now, the tail has obviously been swapped or made from putty and the head, once you zoom in, is a Zoey head with the brain part of another one stuck on top, which gives it the length.

The vents are someone's sculpting attempts. You can see join lines with the original metal/resin.

I'll check again when I get home, but I'm pretty sure the thing's 100% pewter.

The bottom of the tail might be the lower part of the old metal Lord of Slaneesh boob-worm.

There is exactly 0 chance that is a produced model.

If its made of pewter it was kit bashed/green stuff first. Then they made their own mold of their custom model. Then they poured the pewter and cast their own model.

No company ever produced that model.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Value wise it's pretty worthless these days.
As said it's a conversion, not a great one, and for a unit entry that no longer exists.
I'd imagine that your parasite is the same.

Troll Forged miniatures used to do a pretty nice DOM, I think that the only unofficial model out there.

You guys were right, I took a second look and it's just a normal model that's been built-up. So, basically just a normal zoanthrope. No problem though, thanks!
