On moon miranda.

So, I'm wanting to try out working with a Baneblade Company again. Everything is running Valhallan doctrines, basically to ensure the BB's can operate at full effectiveness longer.

This is all pretty much stuff I already have assembled and painted, wanted to get some thoughts on a list that I'd like to be fun for pickup play but competitive enough to bring to a tournament. Havent decided on relics/warlord/warlord trait yet. Not much in the way of gimmicks here, just a bunch of dudes and a trio of big tanks, using new CA point values.

Battalion Detachment: 251

Company Commander 30pts

Astropath 32pts

Thoughts? Suggestions?

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Potentially switch to cadian for the troops, with the auto cannons you don’t really want to be moving.

Potentially you could drop the auto cannons and take a sentinel or something for more objective grabbing.

CA is going to be very nice to this list.

I'd probably drop all the special weapons off the guardsmen and save 68 points, drop the Astropath to save another 32 points, and throw in 3 mortar squads for anti-infantry support, because those baneblades are gonna be busy with enemy armor.j

Looks like fun though!

Baneblades only went down 22pts in CA. Not sure they are worth it at 502pts.

I agree with the above posters. You can drop all the equipment on the loyal 32 squads and pick up 3 units of mortars.

Something like this

-3 company commanders
- 1 psyker
- 6 units of guard
- 3 units of 3 mortars

Plus the 3 baneblades

Overall solid list, but people are prepared to knock out 3 knights so they should manage the baneblades as well.

Astropath is 26pts with pistol, primaris is 46pts.

I'd drop down to 2 commanders, as full order coverage is a waste after the first turn. That's 40 points, which I would use to get a 30pt techpriest. In fact, if you could scrounge up another 20 points I would get another, as those tanks are going to need healing. Maybe drop the pimaris to a second astropath, the ignore cover ability is better than smite anyway.

I would drop the Primaris, run another astropath and a Lord Commissar in its place

Another option would be to drop the entire second battalion, and run a Admec one instead. In that scenario, you would have two healers for your tanks, and withba relic and stratagems, you can heal a ton of wounds. It’s literally less than 200 points for the minimum detatchment, and you get 2 healers with one able to heal twice with a relic

I've fought in this endless hateful war for eight months now, night and day. In that time I've aged a decade. My hair has turned grey, nearly all my squad have died, and I doubt I'll ever smile again. I've fought next to heroes and strangled men in their sleep. But I'm still alive and by the Emperor I plan to stay that way. - Acting-Captain Haines,47th Armageddon Steel Legion
