So, working on my Cadian list, and I'm curious how Overlapping Fields of Fire interacts with Plasma Cannons.

Overlapping Fields of Fire says it gives +1 to hit. So does that mean I cannot roll a 1 then, since if I roll a 1 it's technically a 2 because it's 1+1? So I will never have plasma cannons get hot and kill me. I will also never be able to use the Re-Roll 1's ability of Cadians, since I cannot roll a 1.

If so, it means Overlapping Fields of Fire isn't as good as I thought it was, since I'll no longer be hitting on a 3+ with re-rolling 1's, but it does mean it makes plasma cannons 100% safe unless the enemy has a -1 to hit.

Re-rolls happen before modifiers.

What Overlapping Fields of Fire will do is prevent you from ever overheating on a natural 1, but you'll still miss because it's a natural 1.

You can use the re-roll 1's ability because you apply re-rolls before modifiers.

I see, so I get the best of both worlds then. I can re-rolls 1's because you re-roll before modifiers, but if I fail the re-roll the modifer gets added before the gets hot rule comes into play. This means Cadian Sentinels are perfectly safe to overcharge, as long as I'm firing on something I've used Overlapping Fields of Fire on, and they're hitting on a 3+, re-rolling 1's assuming I didn't move.

Thank you.

Just remember that any negative modifiers will cancel out the Overlapping Fields of Fire and make you vulnerable to overheating.

Definitely, but this will make plasma cannons much more reliable against things like Knights, where I can have Pask tag it with his tank, score a few wounds, then have the Sentinels unload on it, hopefully score a few more, then dump as many Leman Russes into it as required to make it die. Will have to be more careful against things like Eldar.
