I'm focussing on my much beloved ghostkeel over this festive season, it's getting its long deserved paint job.

I'm painting it in the old traditional dark red and black tau stealthy scheme, and whilst this worked perfectly fine for the smaller stealthsuits i think that it could do with a third colour to help break up the blocks of red and black. Honestly it's starting to look a bit like dennis the menace out here.

"Tau tradition" dictates that the third colour should be white, to go with the tau sept marking scheme but i feel that would be too bright over such large panels. Someone reccomended zhandri dust to me, to give an "almost chaosy" khorne red, chaos black, zhandri dust setup. But then again that could be too light as well. I thought that xv-88 might work and help tie it into the rest of the units in the traditional tau sept colours but tests i did looked dreadful.

Perhaps it doesn't even need a tertiary colour, the gold details and sciency doodads might be enough but i'm not quite at that stage of painting yet to see.

Are there any further suggestions that i could attempt?

Have you considered some grey? Might help break up the black.
