I may do a conversion that would involve stealing the legs from 5 necron warriors. Rather than waste the torsos heads and guns I was thinking of making them look like they're emertging from the ground, and only halfway up. This might involve carving the hand off the foregrip and habing the other arm holding the gun upwards, maiint the other arm loom like the hand hasn't emerged from the ground yet,. etc.

So, basically, this:

Would you as a non necron player accept this or not? I would iuf running a non necron army. I imagine only a tiny minority would go "NU UH!" and i likely don't want to game with anyone that anal anyway. I don;t see this as "cheating", I see it as playing far as I am using GW figs, after all.

Just wondering how other people would feel.

Looks cool but you're going to run into situations with line of sight either working for or against you if the model is so close to the ground (i.e. hiding behind a barricade you can't see over).

Well these would be small parts of squads and he first casualties, not a squad onto themselves.

Rule of cool. These are awesome.

I had a few emerging Zombies when Pox Walker farm was a popular tactic for Death Guard.

RaW it's fine, so it's fine, IMHO. Just be willing to allow people to draw LOS as though it were a full model, just to avoid arguments.

yeah have them in the middle or back so no one thinks you're trying to 'hide' the unit and most players would likely be ok.
Though there's no real rules specifying how tall a model has to be, you could add a banner pole or something similar to the correct height on the base too.

Hell yes. This is an awesome idea. Just be a gentleman during game play. LOS granted to opponent if there's EVER a question.

It sounds like you're a pretty reasonable bloke, and you're right - anyone who objects to this is likely not going to be fun to play against anyway. You've even said these would be the first models removed, so not likely to have a long term effect on the game. Love the idea, very cool. Would have zero issues with this (aside from wasting a bit of time going "oh wow, those warriors are cool" and then trying to take a photo mid-game, haha)

It's more an art thing, I mean maybe the wqarriors rise within couple seconds after the miniature pose. If we go by poses at the instant the miniature is made, a figure with a drawn melee weapon and a holstered pistol can't shoot, after all.

Except True Line of Sight relies on poses.

Shooting or Melee attacks do not.

With that said, as long as you do not try to be hide those models out of LoS behind a 0.5 inch wall and be TFG with the models, I would have no issue playing against them.

Oh no I'd never try to hide them like that. I'd try to explain they're normal; necron wariors posed that way because io used their legs to make some other miniatures work. Most 40k gasmres understand economy would likely think it was clever.
