Is it possible for it to be impossible for a weapon to hit? For example, if my unit has a BS of 5+ and some modifiers for the enemy unit give -2 to hit rolls, does that make it impossible for that unit to hit the enemy?

Yes, it's possible for it to be impossible to hit due to modifiers.

This is generally true, but there is an optional set of rules released in the new Chapter Approved called Cities of Death. If you use this rule set, one of the things it changes is that a 6 is always a hit.

Keep in mind this is only for Narrative Play.

Unless you want to use it in your matched play games by mutual consent :p

I only really mention because if it's the opinion of your group that this should be a rule, then there is a framework you can bring in to do that, if everyone is onboard with it.

It's also very, very rare for this situations to happen, and outright impossible for Orks now that they have Dakka, Dakka.
The only way for this to happen is to layer several rules, many of which require Psychic powers and Stratagems.
It's always a heavy investment, and only makes 1 unit impossible to hit.
So you just ignore that unit and shoot something else.

That is very true. It's actually MORE likely to be relevant in Cities of Death due to the obscurement rules!
