Been trying to make a list to take advantage of the new Vigilus detachments but still be competitive. Thinking a block of Wraithblades may be the way to go, but have yet to see how they do in practice. Thoughts?

Craftworld Battalion (still deciding whether to go Alaitoc or Biel tan)

Farseer - Doom and Fortune

Warlock - Conceal/Reveal (if going Biel tan can make this or the farseer the warlord for the Biel tan trait to get a free guide on the dark reapers)

3 x 5 Dire Avengers - Exarch with double catapults

10 Dark Reapers - Exarch with tempest launcher

Alaitoc Battalion (Wraith Host)

Spiritseer - Protect/Jinx

Warlock - Quicken/Restrain

3 x 5 Rangers

10 Wraithblades - Ghostswords

Harlequin Patrol (still deciding whether to go Soaring Spite or Silent Shroud)

Shadowseer - Shards of Light, Twilight Pathways

5 Troupes - Fusion Pistols and Embraces
Starweaver

6 Skyweavers - Zephyglaives and Haywire Cannons

Total Pts - 1994
CPs - 13, 12 after upgrading to Wraith Host.

If I switch the first battalion to Alaitoc, I can make the Shadowseer my warlord for the CP regen, or make one of the Alaitoc characters warlord for the fearless bubble.

The wraithblades taking advantage of the stratagem for a 4+ invul become a real brick of a unit, taking a lot of fire to get rid of. My thought is it should put my opponent in a bind, focus on the wraithblades with diminishing returns and let my harleys pressure the backfield, or try and get rid of the Harleys and end up with wraithblades taking over the midfield for board control. Am I over valuing the usefulness of the wraith host, or can it be competitive?

Alaitoc. You always want Alaitoc

Also not convinced spending 1CP at the beginning + 1CP per turn is a good way to keep Wraithblade alive. You can just give them Axe/Shield for that. 10 of those will still kill plenty

I also think you could drop the Troupe and split the Skyweavers into 3 separate units. Now you have an Outrider detachment for another +1CP. And your Harlie bikes aren't target numero uno against a Meched up opponent (well they probably still are, but it's easy for you to hide them/mitigate a really bad turn)
And dropping the Troupe gives you plenty of points for the Axe/Shields on the WBs

You also have no transports, so I'd swap the Avengers for more Rangers. They are harder to shift and 6 Ranger units might actually be able to remove a troublesome Character.

Pretty much agree about going Alaitoc. I always try making another craftworld work, but Alaitoc is just more beneficial. May run a test game or two with Biel Tan to see how it goes, but probably end up back at Alaitoc in the end.

As far as the CP on the Wraithblades, I don't anticipate needing that 4+ invul every turn, probably a key turn, maybe two. There aren't a whole lot of threats that scare that unit when I can potentially make them -2 to hit (-3 if I use LFR), with a 5+++ using psychic powers. Its a nice bonus to have though if something like a smash captain tries to run thru the unit. I could probably skip the wraith host, but 1 CP doesn't seem too bad for the added flexibility.

I do kind of like the idea of splitting the bikes. One unit is super efficient at crippling things like knights, but the smaller units would give some added flexibility and free up some points for other toys.

I used to run 6 ranger units but the new deployment rules make it much harder. If I can figure out a use for so many, I may go back to that.

Thanks for the advice!

Well, Biel-Tan is fine if you can bring the shuriken weapons to bear.
