So me and a friend have just got back into the hobby, and we wanted to try our luck in a small local doubles tournament.

It's a 2000 point army but we are only allowed to spend 1000 points on each of our forces. Command will be shared between the two forces.

Trouble is I am finding it difficult to get a list that compliments my partner's list. I play Eldar and just can't seem to get a good synergy that works well with the ultra marines.

5 marines - lascannon
5 marines - lascannon
5 scouts - heavy bolter, sniper rifles

Dreadnought - tl lascannon, missile launcher

RG is a LoW, not a HQ, so can’t fill that slot in a battalion.

But it looks like he is doing the backfield camping and AV work. That leaves grabbing objectives and cleaning hordes to you. There are a number of things in the Eldar book that can get that job done. Guardian bomb, shurican WSs, bikes, spears, WG, etc.

I’d start with a farseer on a jet bike and add mobile shuican firepower until you run out of models/points. But a lot can hinge on the tournament format and missions, and local meta. YMMV.
