Hi there wondering whether to bring Fateweaver or the lord of change? Neither will be my warlord as I need daemonspark on a fateskimmer. If I run Fateweaver the impossible robe relic will end up on the fateskimmer. I also run Magnus. In my experience it’s basically a tougher 3++ model vs a model that can be more flexible in the psychic phase. With chapter approved there is a 5 point difference between them. Fateweaver also hits harder in melee but this decreases as he is wounded.

Any thoughts on this to allow me to make a permanent decision would be brilliant? The model is built to be both currently and I will be running this in a semi competitive environment. Other details about the 2k list are:
Fateskimmer as warlord with ds
2 changecasters
Bluescribes
2x 20 p horrors
10 brimstones
2x6 flamers
3 exalted flamers
Magnus
Thousand sons dp

U.k

I would go lord of change as named characters are lame and dull.

Go with Aetos'Rau'Keres (or however you spell it), from FW.

2000pts I think.

If you want random change on a relatively hyper scale then 'Super Chicken' is your boy.

Totally impractical however.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I would probably do LoC with the robe to keep some heat off Magnus. You also already have 3 casters aside from Magnus so that extra spell isn't worth as much.

LOC with the robe all day every day.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

LoC, robe, incorporeal, and changeling...lascannon says what?

Though I really like getting D6 smites on average rolls with +1 to cast and everstave.

Guys thanks so much for the replies. Far more than usual for this forum! Your answers surprise me as I would have considered the extra cast, deny and ability to use all the tzeentch powers, and better melee, would have been preferred over having the robe on the loc. With the units I’ve given you and depending on who I use as the loc, how would you suggest I play them?

Random tangent question....do you think people would be ok using the old Fateweaver model as an LoC in a game? It’s basically the same size as the old LoC and I know both models are still useable.

Ive used the old LOC model a couple times and felt bad. It seems they really amped his rules up along with the bigger model, and people just do not expect a little DP-sized thing is going to be a gigantic 285-point monstrosity. I just felt like I was taking advantage.

You have 5 casts between Magnus and the DP, which I imagine will be glamour, temportal, warptime, diabolic, and weaver, so no real wiggle room there.

But, you're probably already casting all the spells you need. Without smite exemption the horrors are out in the cold if you're smiting with other units. As it stands you have four casts - Treason is rarely applicable save for building around it and Bolt of Change is just a less useful smite (unless you need to pick something off).

Kairos gets you an extra smite (with escalating cost) and the tradeoff of being less durable. I'm not confident the melee profile is a game changer, because then you'll lose access to your best chance at 12+ gateway unless you want to wound yourself. I usually run the 3++/6++ -1 dmg LoC and I still fail those 3s quite regularly. Still, knowing the entire lore can be handy.

Do you mean the super tiny metal one from the 90s? I was thinking of the last incarnation, which is still a bit smaller, but still fairly tall. I can see how people might not like it though.
