Hi friends,

in two weeks, i will be part of a big tournament. I will play Necrons, but i have never played them since the new CA. Here are my first thoughts. I would be glad, if you help me with improving my list. I have seen a few list with 3 Doomsday Arks, but I only have 2 in my collection. I also have some additional questions. Do you think, Imothek and Orikan are a good combination for a tournament list? Shall I take the C'Tan Shard of the Deceiver additionally with the C'Tan Shard of the Nightbringer and kick the Tomb Blades? Kick the Warriors and put in 10 Immortals (Gauss or Tesla)?

I dont think orikan is worth it. You have to roll at the start of each of your turns, and you have to roll less than the current battle round number. Which is 1 on second round, 2 on third round, etc. The game is probably already decided on round 3/4. Imotekh only with at least two full units of tesla immortals. A buffing unit needs units to buff. If you go with two ctans and use grand illusion on both you need scarabs as a screen for them.

What tourney are you going to attend?

The list looks rather good. I'd take the Deceiver due to its special rule of repositioning units before the start of the game.
You could use this to bring your Triarch Stalker into position for marker lightening a unit that the DDAs could take on.

The more Doomsday Arks (DDAs) you can bring, the better. Help mitigate the randomness, and bring more of those tasty Gauss Flayers. For 160, they're a bargain. If you can find the points though, I would actually recommend 2x DDA and 1 Tesseract Ark (although I understand if you don't have the model). Having a gun platform that can move and shoot at high-strength high damage takes some pressure off your DDAs.

If you're running multiple Immortal units with Tesla, Imotekh is absolutely worth. You don't need to spend CP to use MWBD on 2 Immortal Units. In fact, taking 3x Immortal Squads means you can spend 1 CP to play the Phaeron's Will Stratagem to use his MWBD a third time for 3 units.

The Deceiver is good, but your list involves a bit of castling your infantry around your characters, so you get less value out of his Grand Strategy (except maybe repositioning the DDAs?) I'm not a huge fan of the Nightbringer, as I find his points better used elsewhere, but YMMV.

Keep the Tomb Blades. Mobility is always good.

New Roster (Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition) [125 PL, 1999pts]

Battalion Detachment +5CP (Necrons)
Dynasty Choice: Sautekh

Cryptek (Chronometron, Staff of Light )
Overlord (Hyperphase Sword, Warlord Trait: Immortal Pride, Artefact: Veil of Darkness)

10 Immortals (Tesla)
10 Immortals (Tesla)
17 Warriors

C'tan Shard of the Nightbringer (Antimatter Meteor, Cosmic Fire )
Triarch Stalker (Twin-Heavy Gauss Cannon)

6 Canoptek Wraiths
6 Destroyers (Gauss Cannons)
4 Tomb Blades (3 with 2x Gauss Blasters, 1 with Particle Beamer)

Doomsday Ark
Doomsday Ark

I'd personally drop the Warriors and Nightbringer. Take 10 more Immortals with Tesla. I'd also drop the Wraiths. I'm not a huge fan of them; they're mediocre at best in combat, and you're better off taking more Tomb Blades.

This is what I would run (obviously not knowing your full collection, but built around sort of what you've already listed):

Sautekh Battalion

Imotekh the Storm Lord (Warlord: Immortal Pride)
Cryptek (Staff of Light, Chronometron, Relic: Veil of Darkness)
10 Immortals (Tesla)
10 Immortals (Tesla)
10 Immortals (Tesla)
Triarch Stalker (Twin Heavy Gauss Cannon)
9 Tomb Blades (Gauss Blasters, Shadowlooms, Shieldvanes)
Doomsday Ark
Doomsday Ark

Mixed Outrider

Cryptek (Staff of Light, Canoptek Cloak) (Sautekh)
3 Scarabs (Dynasty doesn't matter)
3 Scarabs (Dynasty doesn't matter)
6 Destroyers (Nephrek, so you can use the Deep Strike stratagem)

Total Points: 1992
Command Points: 10 (Battalion 5, Outrider 1, Battleforged 3, Imotekh 1)

If you're really concerned about mixing Dynasties, then run it all as Sautekh. I don't know how competitive you want the army to be, so bringing a mixed detachment allows you to maximize benefits.

The Cloak-tek follows the Tomb Blades around and they pew-pew things away, while grabbing far objectives and acting as a nuisance. 9 + the Cryptek buff to Reanimation will hopefully keep them alive as long as possible.

Destroyers Deep Strike in with the Nephrek Stratagem to keep them alive and maximize their effort. Don't expect these guys to last more than a turn or two.

Immotekh uses Phaeron's Will to MWBD all 3 Immortal Squads for Teslas on 5+. For maximum destruction, you can also play Methodological Destruction for 4+, but that's probably overkill. Maybe.

Scarabs are always just great nuisances. They're cheap, can be used to grab fringe objectives, and act as Mortal Wound blockers. Also, dealing Mortal Wounds by making them explode is always hilarious.

I have to disagree about the Wraith. A unit of 6 models which can take the entire firepower of an AM army for one turn, they died at the end of the shooting phase, isn't mediocre.

To each their own. Wraiths are just models with a 3+ save, so it's really easy to just damage them down, and for the points, I'd rather have other units that can impact via shooting (also playstyle, I'm not a huge fan of combat, so mobile firepower is my game and Wraiths do not fit into that plan).

Now, Wraiths in a Nihilakh dynasty...if I could build a list with lots of CP...that'd be worth considering as a really durable speedbump.

Wraith dont simply have a 3+ save, they have a 3+ inv. Otherwise they wouldnt be able to take the entire firepower of an AM gunline. Its called a distraction carnifex. They take the firepower, die, and the rest of your army escapes unscathed for one turn. I also thought about using them as nihilakh, but the strat is 2 CP, and your opponent may just ignore them when you use that strat, and shoot them next turn. Building a list with lots of CP is pretty easy. Two battalions with 3x5 immortals, lord and cryptek.

I know what Wraiths do, I know what they are. You say 3+ inv, all I hear is "3+ save, drown me in wounds". I guess in my experience, people see that 3++ and don't even bother firing high power weaponry, they just drown you in wounds. And a 3+ save is just a 3+ save in my books, and I fail them with regularity. I'd rather have more shooting (like 6 more Destroyers).
