Hi guys,

I need some advice please, I am going to shortly start up a Choas Khorne Deamon army, I want to stay with similar ish colours, but go a bit lighter.

Basically, I want the colour to match this:

(some of you may be familiar that is the IMP from the 2016 Doom game).

I normally paint basecoat/wash/drybrush/second drybrush, can anyone suggest some colours I can use to match that image, ideally Vajello game colour or model colour.

Looks like flesh based then dry brush up to a slight bone/bone+ flesh color

I would start with hull red, or black red, then go through cavalry brown, heavy skin tone, end with pale blue gray maybe (to catch sick skin colour)...or something like that
...not very helpful I think...

To me it looks like a pale bone base coat followed by some red washes would look good. Follow that up with a slightly paler bone colour to highlight the edges and you should be set.

Thanks for the replies guys, its helped me out a bit whilst looking through.

Its a tough one. Also should of put in my post, while I prefer Vajello paints, I am actually a fan on GW washes over Vajello.

So, I am thinking basecoat, either a red, or even orange, something like Hot Orange (72.009)

Wash, Agrax Earthshade

Drybrush with maybe Cadmium Skin (72.099)

Then final drybrush Bonewhite (72.034)

Well, the recesses (and other pictures I can find) show the darker, dark parts to be more purple than brown (at least, it looks like that to me on this junky monitor).

Maybe a purple wash, then mix the skintone with the Bonewhite for the first drybrush, then go straight Bonewhite on the final one?

Well that game has a brown sepia filter over it at all times so

another good wash might be ruby wash from secret weapon. i really like it for bloody flesh.

I was thinking I would have a lack of red colour, maybe switch out the wash for Carroburg Crimson, or even Druchii Violet?

Well, that explains why the colors look so "shifted" haha.

In reality, I think the Scale75 Unnatural Flesh set would have some fantastic colors for this task, but staying on Vallejo, I think what you want might be something like the following color progression:

Purple/Crimson (Deepest shadow)
Pinkish Skintone (Midtone)
Bone-ish/Pale Skintone (Highlight)

So, maybe Purple Red, Pale Flesh, and then Elfic Flesh. Keeping in mind that the midtone should incorporate some bit of the dark tone there, most probably. Then the lightest tone still have a bit of that mix in it too.

I'm super, super lazy, so I would spray a Bleached Bone-type colour, douse it in a red wash and then selectively drybrush bone back on top.

I seriously don't understand how people do fifteen-step painting on rank-and-file minis. I lost patience even with my super-simple 'technique' after 60 Daemonettes.

The way I'd hit it. Base coat/prime with Krylon camo tan, all red ink, purple wash, work up to a warm bone from there.
