Thanks to Conquest and a Storm Trooper Kill Team, I find myself owning several of the Container sprues.

The containers are straightforward enough, but each sprue also comes with multiple barrels on them as well.

How are people finding the most useful way of using them as terrain? Individually, in small groups, as part of larger terrain pieces?

This is, emphatically, why I will continue suggesting nuking Guard and starting over again. It's a legacy army that needs to be rebooted with a new focal point.

Confirmation of why no-one should listen to Kanluwen when it comes to the IG - he doesn't want the IG, he want's Kan's New Model Army...

IMO the best way to use them is to eitehr stack them or place them on some sort of shim so that they're tall enough to block LOS to small and medium infantry. Essentially, ue them to make a wall.

I would suggest you paint them separately and stack them via tack glue dots to form barricades, debris, or fuel dump. As for scenery setup: mousepad mats, large LoS block terrains, mid level terrains that match your mats, barricades, and small individual terrain that you can mix around your larger scenery every game for different experience.

Agreed, I had the Killzone Terrain box with all of the crates - and generally I glue together larger stacks of boxes and barrels ---- also means you're not dealing with dozens of loose boxes and barrels. Then, when you need cover, place a couple stacks together, so they're enough to place actual minis behind them to gain the cover bonus.

Example:

The grey boxes on both sides of the stack are single pieces, all glued together for ease of deployment.

I made some pallets from foamed pvc and sprue offcuts and clustered some of the barrels and most of the crates to make scatter terrain a it easier to handle rather than lots and lots of individual bits.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
