Hey guys,

Mordians can add +1 to overwatch. My question is how does this interact with the overwatch rules and other modifiers.

For example, shooting at a normal tactical squad, that means a roll of 5 increases to a 6 and thus hits; correct? And a plasma overcharge roll of 1 increases to a 2 and thus doesn't overheat?

How about vs a venom with -1 to hit? Does that 5 remain a 5 and thus miss and the plasma still overheat? Or are overwatch modifiers somehow different?

1While I don''t have my book to hand, I thought the rule stated they hit on an unmodified 5+ if in Base to Base, not that they had +6 to Overwatch?

Read the Astra Militarum FAQ as it answers how to resolve Mordian Overwatch.

Other modifiers don’t affect the hit roll’s success but may affect things like plasma overheating.

Parade drill gives mordians +1 to hit during overwatch, an exception from the usual overwatch rule which ignores any modifiers to hit. Thus, they hit on natural rolls of 5 and 6, the -1 to hit is ignored. If you overcharge plasma when overwatching, and with -1 to hit, it cancels the +1 to hit and you blow up on a natural roll of 1. Without the -1 to hit plasma can't blow up, because of the +1 to hit from parade drill.
