Here is a project I have been toying with. The concept is a Fallen list and I will be using a box of Burning of Prospero for most models to give them an old school look. I also have 30K meltaguns and bolters laying around to help diversify and keep the old look. I know some units are not exactly optimal but I want them for the fluff factor.

Any thoughts?

Since the Fallen are not Astartes or Heretic Astartes, no Chapter traits really benefit them so I put the Pred with them and gave it Iron Hands to give the Predator a 6+ FnP.

The Captain on bike is there to move around for objectives and help with his aura. The new Bolter rules means he will be dishing out 8 shots per turn.

The Fallen with Meltaguns go in the Razorback.

The other Fallen squad is there for backup.

The Tartaros terminators will deep strike and can secure an objective or help as a pincer backed by the Jump Pack Captain.

The Hellblasters will have the Primaris Captain to help them avoid the dreaded 1s. They will act as a solid firebase.

The Leviathan is a fire magnet but also horde chewer.

The Deimos Pred is there for the cool/old school factor.

What do the Fallen give you over veterans for example? Just curious as you could run Fallen aesthetic but utilize veterans rules to gain chapter tactic, special ammo, etc.

I would make them look like fallen but run them as crimson fists vets with storm bolters in razorbacks. Unless you mean to have them huddled up near Cypher for the buff but a captain near veterans fulfills the same role.

Not trying to bash your list or shoot down the idea--just curious if fallen units can perform as well as similar space marine units that also have chapter tactics.

Fallens can re-roll their own 1s for shooting (including overwatch) as long as they did not move (No need to keep a Captain near them) and they never lose more than 1 model due to morale. This can make them a fairly solid independant unit that can hold it's own without needing to be babysat by a nearby character.

Also I can put an old school autocannon as a heavy weapon.
