Thanks, everyone!

timd, nope, that's all done with regular old paint, no effects (I tend not to like metallic paint either, so that's just regular color)

OK, then I'm going to have to say: Wow!

Please tell me about the blue eyes and especially the blue in the palm of the hand. They really pop! Good bright blues are not easy to find.

Would not mind a close up of him either...

Thanks!

Sure! Ir was a mix of Vallejo Royal Blue, Sky Blue, and Magic Blue, depending on brightness, and the gem used another vallejo dark blue (forget its name; label wore off :/ ). I think their Magic blue has great saturation and would certainly recommend it for anyone who wants a clean primary blue. The blacklight effect I think you saw is because I made the glow around it basically the same tone as the material, so it's changing the color without making it brighter.

I'll try but probably fail to put up a closeup; just checking in case you didn't notice: Dakka's image hosting allows a bit of zoom past their forum size (it's not huge, but clearer than just here)

I do love the atmosphere you've got on these. I'm not usually a fan of OSL myself but I think it looks cracking on these. Top work

Thanks!

Yeah, a long time ago I didn't really like OSL, but I've grown to really like it if the model is gloomy enough that the light looks like it's part of the environment/atmospheric stuff, rather than just an effect added to an otherwise normally lit model.

Thank you! Had looked at the zoomed image and its better, but not particularly well focused. Don't know whether that is a function of the original photo or of the Dakka compression.
Will have to take a look at the Vallejo colors.

Brilliant! A useful distinction.

Honestly, it's probably a bit of both. My camera's pretty old (and sometimes I feel about the same...) and dakka's compression isn't fantastic.

And yeah, I think GW does the best yellows and Vallejo does the best blues and greens. Most other colors, I just go with whatever dropper-style bottle is around.
