Yup, so long as you're using acrylic paint (ie: most miniature paint brands), that will do it.

Awsome this says to not mix more then 10%, so does this mean i shouldn't do a 1 to 1 mixture of paint and medium?

Thank you.

Edit- Or are all mediums suitable for what i am doing good for a 1 to 1 mix?

It means if you're using (as an example) 10ml of paint, you would mix in no more than 1ml of retarder. Although that's geared towards artists acrylics, because that's what that particular retarder is made for, so you would want to experiment a little with your miniature paints for a blend that does what you need it to.

I haven't used retarder much, but from my very little experience you don't need 1:1, just a drop or two.

Never used retarder myself, just use a wet pallet and medium.

For wet blending, I generally just thin the paint with water and paint quickly

Although these days I tend to shade with inks or super-thin paint rather than wetblending. It's slower, but gives smoother transitions.

Retarder and medium are different things, retarder will slow the drying process of your paint as described, medium will soften up your acrylic paint, you can add acrylic medium and some distilled water to your pots to keep them in shape. DO NOT add acrylic retarder to your pots, it will dry out your paints to a rubbery state. Think of acrylic retarder as a acrylic glaze, they are similar in use.

What does softening up it do? doesn't that also slow drying process?

Thanks.

I just want to use the stuff that people use instead of mixing the paint with water to get nicer finish.

You know that whitish fluid on the top level of your pot if you let it set for like over a month, that's acrylic medium in some extent. For metallic colors, add metallic medium and distilled water to your pots.

its fine to use the retarder and paint out on a tile to mix and paint on your minis, just don't add it to your paint pots.

less is more with retarder medium. I rarely use mine because i always tend to use too much, and once its mixed, you cant really touch that paint for hours while it dries.

yeah you might be talking about mediums. lahmain medium from GW is pretty good. I use it for glazes and layering. however, you can get nice finishes using just water, and you should try and master this first rather than relying on mediums. most of my layering is done using just paint and water. Mediums are a good tool, but they arent 'liquid talent' as some people seem to think.
