I am currently getting back into 40k and am looking for some help assembling a 1000pt army list. I have not played since 5th/6th edition so please bear with me! A couple of immediate concerns:

You've listed it as a Patrol detachment, but your 2x HQ and 3x Troops makes you eligible for a Battalion detachment with no changes, so you're missing out on some free command points there, but that might just be a administration thing on your end. But important not to miss out on!

I can't help but feel you're a little bit light on the anti-tank for 1000pts, I'd consider swapping the Rhino out for a Razorback with Lascannons?

I'm not a Space Marine player (I'm Chaos) but I understand that Assault Marines are not in a good place right now, given they're quite expensive and don't really hit hard enough to justify that cost. Given you're not using your unit to deliver a meltagun or similar tank-busting short range weapon, that might be some points better spent elsewhere?

Again, not a Space Marine player, but I'm also a bit confused about how your Captain has both a MC Boltgun and a Stormbolter? I would assume that he's limited to one two-handed weapon and one single-handed weapon?

Thanks! Yea Ill change the Patrol Detachment, I'm still getting used to that whole system (new to me). Razorback with Lascannons sounds better to me then the Rhino. Thats a bummer about the assault marines in current play, Ill have to find a replacement

As a returning player myself, it was interesting getting used to the new detachment system, but I like the flexibility. If not for the generation of CP's, it would allow some properly fluffy lists with the removal of the "troop tax", but there's just too many CP's going begging if you don't at least try for one battalion in my experience.

I mean YMMV for the Assault Marines, but my understanding is they generally get shot off the board, or get a charge into a unit that they likely won't be able to kill, and then that unit falls back and... well, they get shot off the board.

Hi.

A couple of things there.

1st. Your Captain has got a MCB and a SB. Go just for one and try to get the points for a Relic Blade so that in fall of CC needed you will have a hard guy.

2nd. I am agree about the Assault squad. I would replace them for Devastators instead. With the Cherub you have a tricky MW stratagem. You can get them doing the Scouts a 5 man squad with just bolters so that when you don't move with them you have the new Bolter beta rule, and also one of those Dreadnoughts replace the combat arm for a ML. Those Devastators should have a HB for Hellfire Rounds. For the Flack Missile strat you don't need the devastator sgt Signum because the stratagem gives you a +1 to hit against fly.

3rd unit inside the Rhino?

Yea I discovered that last night, I used BattleScribe and its auto selected. And I'm totally going to look into the Devastator squad and see if it fits with points, Thanks!
