Planning my first SM purchases since ca. 1990'ish, and was wondering if the Terminator in Kill Team Cassius is actually in-scale with Primaris marines? (which is the direction I'm leaning towards)

Looking at the pics on GW's site, I'm thinking NOT ... He appears to suffer from what I call "Slender Thigh Syndrome" ...

Just wanted to confirm either way?

Also, the Beakie marine in the same set? Primaris or regular? His armour "looks" Primaris to me (sorry, don't know the Marks of armour).

They came out before Primaris were a thing I think?

The terminator either way isn’t Primaris, as there are not Termie Primaris, if that’s what you’re meaning?

Kill Team Cassius predates Primaris and is scaled the same as the plastic Marines you could get from 3rd ed through 6thed/beginning of 7th ed.

You will find that they are both smaller and differently proportioned.

In fact, GW upscaled the generic Deathwatch kit a little (in the same way as Thousand Sons and Death Guard) to be a little taller, and the Marines from Kill Team Cassius look smaller than those.

Slender thigh syndrome seems to be sticking around if the redone Black Legion Marines from Blackstone Fortress are anything to go by to aesthetically set apart actual Marines and Primaris. If you like the Primaris look, then at the moment you have little choice* but to go with the few Primaris kits that have been released so far. While heads and shoulder pads are easily interchangeable between old and new models, the torso and leg proportions Primaris sport are exclusive to them.

*Speaking from personal experience, I like Primaris anatomy and have a hard time tolerating the old Marine anatomy now that a superior option is available - and I keep seeing this same attitude pop up in others.

Thanks very much guys. You've literally saved me from wasting £40!

One more question if I may ... would the Deathwatch shoulder pads fit on Primaris marines, or would they be too small?

Doh ... think I've answered my own question. Deathwatch Primaris Intercessors ...

Wish GW would release Primaris-scaled Termies ...

DW primaris actually have the same DW upgrade sprue as everyone else. It works.

As for primaris terminators, I find Tartaros terminators both fit primaris aesthetic well and are slightly taller, so they are what works best now. I'd expect 'real' primaris terminators to be slightly taller still, but it works as stop-gap measure.
