ooooh...right. forgot about the phase out thing.ake out the monolith and the lord....thats about 560 pts total...so i should add 2 more 10-man warrior squads? that adds it up to 920 pts so i have 80 pts left. i have room for a 4-man squad of flayed ones. thats 992 pts.. i figure that almosts doubles my ranks. Thanks alot!

well you can't take out the Lord, but you could take off his veil ( don't think I would though).
I would actually consider doing like this:
Drop the destroyers and monolith.
Add 4 scarabs as assault tieup.
Add 2 x 6 immortals
Then see how many points you have left. Add warriors with the rest.
The veil is really useful it's just hella expensive to be combining with the monolith since the veil itself is like 60 pts.

You're on the right track though. just don't get flayed ones - if you want assault tieup get scarabs in small groups. they're cheap and fearless and have 3 wounds and move like jetbikes.

Closer I think it depends heavily on what you want, but I would limit myself to only one selection that doesn't count as necrons, so probably not take a tomb spider. 44 phase out is fine at 1000 pts, but you'd get more juice out of an orb than out of a tomb spider. If you're just starting I would try something like this: Lord, veil+orb 2 x 6 immortals 1 x 12 warriors 1 x 10 warriors 1 x 5 scarabs 34 necrons, but you've got more move and shoot firepower with the immortals and you have two squads of immortals to use to protect each other. And you've got both a veil and scarabs as counter-assault.

I would advise proxying stuff out before you buy it, as Immortals are expensive and some people prefer destroyers.
Personally I think the destroyer list is a bit less flexible overall.

Longshot's Necron advice is generally very good, he thankfully turned my first draft list away from Wraiths and small Destroyer units toward a more balanced list to get me started. I definitely agree that a 'Lith and Veil Lord are overkill in a 1000 point list. The 1000 point 'Cron list I am painting at the moment consists of a Lord with Veil & Res Orb, 6 Immortals, 2x10 Warriors, 4 Destroyers and 6 Scarab Swarms for exactly 1000 points. It's probably a fairly cookie cutter approach to the army, but means I get to paint and play with 'core' Necron units that will always be useful and see what works for me before expanding the force or focussing my unit choices in a specific direction.

I would definetly recommend trying to keep some destroyers in that list. Each Heavy 3 shot that they contribute is well worth it, and is one of the better AP guns in the list.
