Subject: How to get Hormagaunts to stand up straight?

I've heard of people using coins like pennies. Unfortunately, my bases are slotted. So, I can't do that. I've heard that using just very small pieces of extra sprue would be enough to weigh the back down enough (that doesn't seem like it would be enough, though). What did other Tyranid players/painters use to make sure that Hormagaunts to stand up straight?
Thanks

Fishing weights (the little ones you crimp onto the line). If they are a little big they can be hammered flat as they are so soft*.
*the weights, not the hormagaunts

Basically what I did. I hot glued them in and put a peice of card over the top (or bottom I guess).
Even worse are the old 2nd edition metal ones, I have re-done some of those recently, a couple of the I even had to add more of the weights on the top, then put some sand over them to hide them a bit.

I used 1" steel washers. They're negligibly wider than the bases (.4mm in theory) and are a mm or two thick, but they keep the lanky buggers upright better than coins (which often have the wrong diameter) or scrap stuffed in the base (too light).
I've seen people use lead weights (either for fishing, as mentioned, or model racing), fill the base with greenstuff, and just buy cast metal bases with success, too.

You can also take care while assembling and glue 1 or both arms so that the claws tips to just barely touch the "ground" in front of the model. Obviously need to do this on a flat surface.
But I'd still go with weights on some so that you aren't stuck having all your Hormies in a praying mantis pose without any in a "leaping" stance with arms raised

Alternatively, you can go for sproingy Hormaguants.
Also, this option is MUCH better for piling in on combats.

Nothing will be cheaper then pennies. Yes the bases are slotted. Run a line of crazy glue or hot glue along the slot and stick the penny to it.
Unless whatever you get costs less than .01 per base your spending too much.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Awww that's cute But yeah I can see that being helpful for ensuring easier time piling into combats.

I use shotgun shot for all of my bases. I paid around $40 US for a bag, have used based approximately 200 or so models from 25MM up to 50MM and have probably used 1/4 a bag. So about a nickel per base. Pricier than pennies but works so much better (and even weighs more than a base with a nickel for the same cost).
Since it's lead I would recommend washing your hands after handling. Just pour some into a dish, dip your base in, clean out any pellets that would stick up above the base and using a low viscosity superglue fill the base with glue and let dry for about an hour.
A 25MM base filled with lead shot weighs far more than a coin or washer does. Having owned 'Nids and Pink Horrors and Harlequins the lead shot has been the *best* weighting material I've used (and I've done it all from pennies to fishing weights to nickels).
