Hi Dakka,

I'm about to paint me up some Night Lords but I dont seem to be able to find the right base Colour to work with.

I'd like a very dark and gritty blue tone. Almost black at first glance. I generally paint with Vallejo paints but they do not seem to have the right stuff. As for Citadel paints I only found Dark Reaper but that seems to be almost turqoise. I dont like that. I certainly do not want my guys to look like darker Ultrasmurfs.

So... I'm a little lost. Can anyone help me out?

basecoat black, then use kantor blue.

Vallejo Game Colour Night Blue.

Reaper HD Solid Blue is a very deep blue. I use it for librarians and it looks amazing. I can post a pic after work today.

Edit for pics. Primaris Librarian is Solid Blue with Nuln Oil and I believe Army Painter Ultramarine Blue edge highlight. Space Hulk Librarian is currently just Solid Blue basecoat.

Dang I'd forgotten just how awesome that Primaris Librarian turned out

That may have been two coats of Nuln Oil--I don't remember for sure. Now I want to go back and deepen the shade and highlight those yellow tubes a bit--they look a bit flat!
