I'm confused on how a certain interaction works with the Chaos Decimators from FW Heretic Astrates and the Crimson Crown relic from Chaos Daemons.

So the Chaos Decimators can bring 2x Soulburner petards which state that they cause a mortal wound on a successful hit, instead of normal damage.

The Crimson Crown states that Khorne Daemons within 6" can make an additional attack on a wound roll of 6+.

So the question is, does the Soulburner petard even have to roll to wound in order to do the mortal wound, and if they do, do they have to actually wound in order to inflict a mortal wound?

If not, can they even roll to wound in order to benefit from the extra attack.

Because it says "Instead of", you would not roll to wound.

So no-you cannot get extra attacks in that fashion.
