From what I gather the Rubric Marines that can be taken by the unaligned legions like Iron Warriors or Work Bearers are the retinues of Thousands Sons sorcerers who have broken off from that legion for whatever reason. Would this mean they are likely to have taken the colour scheme of the legion they have thrown their lot in with, whatever colour scheme the sorcerer has decided for their little warband or still have the Thousand Sons colours?

it really depends on what the sorcerer decides.

It's really depends on what you want.
The models are easily identifiable as Rubrics rather than other CSM, so nothing stops you from working their color scheme into your force.

It varies, so you can do whatever you like. In the Black Legion for example (see "Black Legion" the novel by ADB) we have Rubricae that are black with a blue shoulder, blue with a black shoulder, all black, red with a black shoulder, etc.

That said, i guess it depends for how long the rubricae are part of warband legion.
Say they join BL, they will mostlikely plaint their armour.
A quik romp for some loot with a minor warband, probably not.

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH. |

Cheers for the suggestions, what I decided to do as they are going with Word Bearers is to do pre-heresy style red and gold but have the red match the Word Bearers as a common colour.

Don’t rubicrae just look however their sorcerer determines? I thought their form was veriable by sorcery.

Well i love the common blue paint scheme so much i would add them to my BL with maybe a little some thing to make it more obvious they are BL but still keeping that original blue would be awesome.
