Hey people of DakkaDakka,

I want to try out ITC and ETC Style of play for 40k.

Now I struggle with understanding the ETC rules.

I found the mission package here (I don't know if I'm allowed to post links here? If not I'll remove them!):

https://www.glasshammergaming.co.uk/Downloads/ETC2018_40K8thedition_RULESPACK_vFINALDRAFT.pdf

Everything explained. Only thing I don't quite get is ETC Mission 2#

Now I wouldn't post a thread for only this problem.

I've been watching this batrep on YouTube:

https://youtu.be/1pt6MsiJ_BE?t=103

Here the guy on the right talks about "fixed objectives" and also the missions they play sound nothing like the ETC Missions in the rules pack.

Now...I can't find ANYTHING of this in the rules package. No fixed obj., always placing them before the game starts. Also the mission names differ from the ones in CA2018 (although you can somehow find out which one it should be). ALSO ALSO are the missions fixed to the deployment zones or do you pick on after a succesfull roll off?

So basically as I'm more confused now than I have been before...Can someone explain to me HOW EXACTLY ETC works?

Because ECT rules include playing both an eternal war and a maelstrom mission (with kill points as well), at the same time; and some eternal war missions have moving objectives. You have to use 6 for maelstrom and 2-4 extra markers for the eternal war missions.

Usually when objectives don't move in the eternal war component you just use the same 6 objectives for both missions.

So we just have randomly generate an eternal war mission and a maelstrom mission. place the obj. for the eternal war mission and then 2-4 more for maelstrom. deployment is decided via roll off?
