See title... Personally I would've already started about ten astra militarum armies if we got plastic greatcoat guardsmen.

Cadia is destroyed, but Cadians are still everywhere. Their uniform is also the same uniform many other regiments use, it is basically the default Astra Mitarum gear.

All that a given, personally I feel the Cadian line needs a reboot too. The models are really quite poor by current standards.

Except we just (relatively speaking) got new models with the Scions. They are 2016 I think? There are STILL armies playing with METAL ARMIES, ala Necrons and SoB. Don't complain to a SoB player about your models being outdated

Just need to un-renegade the Blackstone Guard mooks (which are IMO gorgeous) and expand the line. Seems like theyve done at least some of the prelim work already.

Read "Cadia Stands" or any of the post-Fall of Cadia books.

Cadians are still around even if the planet isn't. And that's not even factoring the planets that were settled by them over their history.

personally I just see cadians as bog standard guarsman, plain uniform pants and gak with flakk jacket and helmet. I don't want them to disappear as that is what my current models all are so if i ever wanted to grow them they would not match. (i have old and new tempestus scion models though so i would get over it).

I would love to see more options to personalize guardsmen from GW as the models would be cool... but let me pose a probably unpopular thought on the subject. Why should GW make them for just the one force? I see a lot of people sayign they want different guardsman for various things. tau do not get options for enclaves beyond transfer sheets, Orks do not get snakebites kits , freeboota kits, goff kits etc. Eldar do not get different models for different craftworlds, they just have to paint them different colors, Even space marines are mostly the same models with different upgrade sprues (exceptions for models for specific models like sanguinary guard, wulfen and things like that)

The issue as I see it is the amount of effort it would take to create entire kits based on these individual armies. you can't just release arms and helmets people want new torsos and legs, that would mean creating entire lines of guarsman, command squads, heavy weapons, special weapons, and snipers at a minimum then times that by number of regiments that exist in lore and people want to buy. seems like a lot of effort and the question is how many people would buy them vs the cadian style they already have.

Flair options seems like a perfect expansion avenue for Forge World. They're already dipping into it with some of the Necromunda and AoS lines.

Cadia had a standing population of a large city. Cadians otoh number in the billions (at least) and are throughout the galaxy.

Abaddon will probably smash Vigilus and then Cadia will make surprise revenge assault that turns him back or w/e - then you'll get models.

From here on out new kits will be tied to something thematically unless it's a new codex.

Give us female guard! They die for the emperor as much as any man, they should have equal representation in models!

Asking the important questions. I just want to know what GW plans to do for the guard going forward. 70%+ of the regiments are out of production or no longer have models. Adding new scions, female commissar, taurox doesn't change that. Right now you basically have two options, Cadia & Catachan. Hardly the "hundreds of thousands of regiments" the guard are supposed to represent.

Guard is probably the only range which has gotten worse over time. Quality of models is fine, vehicles are great, but they lost a TON when the actual regimental lines weren't brought forward into plastic (and of all of them, they chose ugly ass Catachans?).

Cadians are boring as feth, so in short...new Guard can't come soon enough. I know what I'd like to see, but it won't happen so no point in really even hoping for it.

Since Kreig is so popular I could see them move away from the "heroic" scale and actually go to smaller human models, I think it would entice people to switch.
Oddly, they would fit well with Bolt Action scale of troopers.
Looking at how spindly Mechanicus models are I could see that.
Mind-you Catachan I could see them going for a Necromunda Goliath size and we would again have ugly Catachan models to complain about.
I think they would like to make a point that the Primaris are HUGE then to highlight the super-humans even more.

My thoughts.

Anvil Industries has exactly what you're looking for.

I think the IG are in something of a unique position, while they include rules to play all these different past regiments, GW doesn't really support them with a range. At the same time, while some IG players like the Cadian models because they allow them to play the IG as something approximating a modern military force... the IG aren't really suppose to be that.

The IG player base has seemingly rebelled against the anachronisms, the "Imperial" in Imperial guard, and the variety that are supposed to be formed from disparate IG regiments into something greater than the sum of their parts... in favor of a single flavor of IG that is relatively uniform and coming from a single planet, that has the fewest of the characteristics of the Imperium's aesthetic.

I think like many other things IG are due for new models and the cadian models will be phased out. That whatever they are replaced with are either going to be easier to adapt to a variety of styles or in lore will represent a greater standardization of IG equipment. IF GW isn't doing that it means you will see them doubling down on Tempestus scions as the prevailing "IG" force they expect you to play.

You are fundamentally off-base, since GW in fact sell kits for two Regiments. FW is also still part of GW, so they sell three actually. Also, the change from Guard to Astra Militarum is a (stupid) response to IP law issues with nothing at all to do with the players.

Cadians have long, long, long, loooooooong been the Guard equivalent of Ultramarines or Black Legion, so it seems unfair to blame the players for their ubiquity.

I don't see anything at all in even vague support for your contention that GW wants us all using Scions.

Is this a reply to aka_mythos? If so, it doesn't make any sense to me. You seem to be challenging points I don't think he was trying to make.
