Ok so I've been airbrushing around 10 years and I've always used small hobby compressors that are pretty much ready to use out of the box.

Now I have a big hardware store / contractor setup: 5 gallon tank with compressor capable of 175psi... but what do I need to use this with my airbrush(es)??

Anyone have experience with connections, hoses, adapters or whatever else is needed to make this work??

Thanks!

You're probably going to want to go to Harbor Freight if available and get some fittings, teflon tape, a regulator (cheap) and a water trap (also cheap), and a hose and adapters. You can get this all on ebay if no Harbor Freight near you.

I can't be more specific because we don't know what size fittings are on your compressor or what airbrush you are going to, but you can probably do all of this for less than $30.

I was under the impression that those big contractor compressors had a universal fitting, in US anyway, but really I'm not sure.

All my airbrushes are the more standard size (iwata, H&S, grex, Chinese Masters etc).

Probably 1/4" NPT yes, so you'd need to know what the thread on your airbrush lines were, and convert down. That said, its not unknown for it to be a different size, though probably still NPT.
