Hey guys.
So I got my 2 copies of shadowspear.
Not going to lie here, I got these mainly to re-sell and make soem £ to buy eldar and was going to keep maybe one or two chaos minis.
Onto the point, I'm looking through these now and have noticed that the sprues have multiple units on sprues. Ie Eliminators share sprue with infiltrtors etc.
I wonder how much of this was done so that it makes re-selling these a pain in the butt as you ahve to cut them from sprues and cant send the whole sprue(like with wake the dead as an example) and how much was done to cut on manufacturing?
I didint have dark imperium so not sure how that was made as I suppsoe thats the nearest comparison.

Dark Imperium was the exact same way. And no, it is not being done to mess with resellers. Molds cost thousands of dollars to make. If they can reduce the cost of manufacturing, they make more profit.

As casvalremdeikun said, that's how they do all the starter boxes - have a look at Dark Imperium and AoS Soul Wars. The battle boxes (such as Wrath and Rapture) and Start Collecting! boxes normally contain the individual kit sprues.

It will also be the reason we haven't seen things like the Primaris Ancient and the Gravis Captain released separately. It would require the creation of a brand new mold.

Why not both? Literally everyone is helped by this except the resellers. Better C/BR for GW on the manufacturing side and it will sell more units as opposed to people buying from resellers. I could be way off base but it sounds reasonable to me. Plus, it explains the cheaper price point. The new individual molds are probably already done but they wanna squeeze the money out first and then sell the indies at a higher price.

GW has worked a lot on optomizing sprues. Compare 10y old sprues to new ones and the new ones are packed much tighter.
This also means that pieces move around to make the best use of space which leads to multiple units being spread out across multiple sprues.
