Fortress world of Ostrakan

I'd like to ask.

I have a Readied model, that has no viable target to shoot at, but within range and line of sight is a pair of models in close combat.
In the regular shooting phase, the friendly model in the close combat is killed (by a pistol) thus the previously locked enemy model is not locked in CC anymore. Can the once redied model shoot at the now lone enemy in the regular shooting phase, considering it's not readied anymore and did not shoot at anything else?

I would say yes, because you can pass in the "Ready, Fire" phase whenever you like.
Each model can only fire once, and can not be chosen if advanced, fallen back, charged, or is 1" of another model.

None of this is true for the previously readied model.

I agree. The FAQ states you can pass in the "Ready" phase, and still select the model normally in the "normal" shooting phase.
